Good Morning Everyone :)

I'm thinking about taking the plunge and buy the ZF V4 version of this, and I've read that the rep strap is not very good quality, and its best going for a good leather/croc strap.....

Can anyone recommend a strap which is good quality, which doesn't cost that much?

I don't really want to spend $100 on the strap when i'm already paying $400 for the watch....

I've read somewhere that you can buy pretty good quality straps for around $30-40 but cannot find the thread anymore :(

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Look at the Vietnamese strapmaker topic. They are good for the price

For that small amount of money, that's rep strap quality. You won't find a "good leather/croc strap." Spend a little more money and actually get something that helps make the rep look gen and not something crappy that would be an automatic tell. Remember the gen watch is $10k. Do you think someone with that expensive of a watch would want to wear some $20 strap?

Search eBay for "Santoni watch strap"; yes, your search results will include the infamous Italian maker's $500 straps, but you'll also see some decent Vietnamese straps. Check out eBay seller vnhandcraftart's stuff-- for around $40-50, you'll get a very acceptable quality real croc strap. Some are better than others, so look through the listings. Definitely way better than the rep strap stuff, but once you take the plunge with genuine straps, you'll find that genuine IWC or Santoni strap is impossible to beat. Are they worth the price? That's entirely subjective, but damn, they go a looooong way towards making your Portuguese rep look legit.

Meh, I think the ZF QC issue has been overblown. I've been extremely pleased with mine-- 2 5007s, a new thin 3714, and a Top Gun Miramar. No problems at all.

I would actually say that my ZF strap was the best rep strap that I have ever received on a rep watch, so maybe I am not quite as picky. I bought a strap from vnhandcraftart on eBay. Great feel (softer than ZF) and colour but the finish details are worse than the ZF. Definitely doesn't look like it belongs on a watch worth that much money. It's too bad you can't get the feel of the Vietnamese strap and the finishing details of the rep strap. I also bought a strap off Etsy. I wanted something to make the watch look more casual. I went with blue crazyhorse leather with white stitching. I am sure not for everyone but I absolutely love it. The seller makes the strap to order and sends you a sketch before he cuts the leather to ensure measurements are correct. He has never done curved ends before and he did a great job. For me, this strap will get the most time with the watch. If anyone is interested, message me and I will forward you his contact info.
