Is this the rarest Panerai?

"This is a very rare special editionâ€â€Panerai very rarely makes such limited 50 piece special editions on a Private Commission basis; the management of Panerai, being huge baseball and Marlins fans agreed to make this one time special edition as long as the Marlins agreed not to make this watch available to the general public."

Why does that sound dodgy to me? It looks like a regular PAM modded by a trophy shop.

ps. I'm sure there were other models in runs of 50.

Paneristi says it was indeed a special run for the Marlins. Goto frameset 206....

http://www.paneristi.com/reference/vendome/vendomeframeset.html

I've found Paneristi to be not-necessarily correct on some info like serial numbers, what do you think about this?? Seriously, would Panerai do a special edition for a World Series winner?

Hmm.. IMO they really tarnish their name by associating it with some stupid baseball team.... :x

I agree, doing a special watch for a baseball team is a little silly, although if I had been a Marlin, I think I would have appreciated it.

I've seen one of these in person

Really nothing special. It's like any other automatic Panerai (which are very nice, don't get me wrong) but with the special back engravings. Unless you're a Marlins fan, I can't see this having any special collectors' appeal.

If you notice, part of Richemont's strategy is indeed to go in the 'collectible' niche.

Yearly limited runs, etc etc. So from Richemont's standpoint, they want everything to be collectible.

This kinda irks me, because they blanket fire on every nosepick event..

..and make a (openquote)LIMITED(closequote) watch for it...

Seeing how the average salary in baseball is around 2 mil I don't think it's a stretch for any watch company to make a special addition run for a world championship team. Have no clue if it's real though.

very special limited editions....we need more of those !

i am a Michael Jackson fan.... who would be interested in a special...we are the world -Michael Jackson -
limited production run. - with smiling children engraved on it....

and not to forget....the limited edition..., you know what time it is ?- OJ is innocent !!

and finally...Sly - Rambo - Tech...from Rambo 3....when Rambo fights together with the good !! Taliban against the bad russians....oh my gosh...the times have changed....now this watch would not be worth anything no more !!

i love special editions !!...especially when the multi millionare- stars get 20 versions of them....for free !
