Hi!

I just got hold of an Omega Seamaster Pro replica, and had a look at the movement. The seller specified it as having a Swiss Eta 2824-2 movement.

I took the back off to have a look and found this
DSC_0765_zpse2334f3a.jpg

The engravings below the balance wheel says "2834-2" and before it something that looks like "V2A12", on the right of there is something thats hard to make out, but it looks like "SA".

Whats the difference between 2824-2 and 2834-2? and is this really a Swiss made movement?

It's very very common to buy "Swiss" movement watches from TD with clone parts added. You mostly have a Swiss base plate and some clone parts added. Mostly the seller didn't know this, bought a Swiss and got bits and pieces of clone parts thrown in. Most often than not the bridge and hairspring assembly will be clone or just incabloc assembly. Keyless are also a lot of times clone parts with these too.

Looks clone to me too, here's a photo of my Gen Swiss 2836-2 ETA with tags for reference. On a clone, the stampings of the movement number, and ETA logo are blurred, and not crisp and sharp as Gen.

Thanx for the help identifying it guys!

How does the clones hold up? Are they inferior and break often or could i expect 10years from it before servicing it?

IMO clones are great. I've never had a swiss movement and my asian2824/36s are holding up great.

the 'tweny' is a rotor sticker that they put on the movement. it can be peeled off.

you should not use that as an identifier unless it is obvious that its engraved on the rotor.
