I don't know if it is real swiss 7750 that is offered by this seller... but have seen the same pic on several different auctions..."buyer beware"

I wish I had one so I could familiarize myself with the ETA 7750...

I wouldn't touch it without seeing the actual ETA engraving on the movement - and even then I wouldn't be totally convinced.

Ok, here's how to tell if it's a real 7750. It couldn't be easier.

b8_1_sbl.JPG

If it has hands at 3, 6, 9 it's a 7753. Unless, of course, it's an old (the bad one) 7750-copy. ETA don't do a 3-6-9 7750.

Here's what Ziggy said:
JUNK, not Swiss but old Asian 7750....

Not worth $50.

How to tell?

Look at the regulator and balance stud, compare it to the swiss one, easy to see the diff and dead giveaway...

engravings are there - and good price.

Though I do wonder why it appears he tried to blot out the name on the pics in the lower left corner....

that advice is not 100% usefull anymore!
The new asian 775x movements use the swiss regulator and ETA is producing 7753's in numbers large enough now that they should start to trickle out into the surplus market.

The real swiss movements will always have the model number and halmark under the ballance wheel.
Also I notice that the asia movements have many ball bearings in the rotor bearing assembly and the real swiss 775x will have only 5 bearings!

Yes, but they don't stamp 7750 in BLOODY GREAT LETTERS on their 7753s. :D

While I was drawing pictures every one else was replying.

And my d@mn pictures shrunk.

Zetter, Isn't it nice to have a place like this with such great people that help us all to stay knowledgable and keep us from getting ripped off by aholes!

Cheers mate and good hunting!

Yeah and beleive me I've searched there are no 7753s on ebay unless you buy a watch and yank it out!

Only source I've found so far for these is Ofrei.

I'm hoping to have a better source soon.

the hamilton avaitor has the 7753 in it! the current stock on ebay are a bit spendy but I had one bookmarked in the same price range as Ofrei wants for the movement alone!

Thanks everyone!

I was going to replace a movement in a navi - but I guess I would need hands at 3,6, 9 and that would be a 7753, not a 7750.

If I had the series speciale I could get by with the 7750.

ok I'm learnin!

Please enlighten me. Why is the ETA 7753 so much greater than the ETA 7750?

As far as I know there is nothing better about it. It simply has the subdials in the 3, 6, 9, pattern instead of 6, 9, 12, like the 7750

the 7753 is also less common so its more expensive
