Is this PAM088 a rep-movement looks odd...

Hey guys I've been offered a PAM088 for sale (as a gen) and I think he is a genuine guy, but am not sure the watch is gen-to me looks like a Noob rep.

Can anyone see any tells on the outside?

Also the movement does not look like OP VIII to me-appreciate it is a modified ETA 7500, but the mark seems to say "A05.571" which I've never heard of.
Can anyone shed any light?

The rotor might be different because of the series, they were produced several years. But have not seen that A05.571 reference in any search I did. Does the watch come complete with boxes, papers, etc?

It was imported from a dealer in the US-with box and booklet (2008) but without paperwork.
There are precious few pics of the PAM088 movement on the interweb to compare it with-and you are right the ETA ref does not seem familiar or anywhere on the web.

OK, here are two pics of my gen, unfortunately I didn't pull the cover, maybe I'll do that tomorrow.
A couple subtle differences, the most obvious to me though is the release pins for the replacing the bands, not sure if this was just not a feature in the '08 timeframe or if it was introduces later, mine it a 2013.

Thanks for the pics. The other difference is that your caseback does not say 'ocean chronometer' and includes the Panerai logo

yeah, I noticed that as well, but I didn't put too much stock into that being a flag, the model has been released several times as "I's" and "N's" and "O's" etc, so the serials and engravings would all be just a little different, but I was under the assumption the case and the dial were essentially the same for all the releases.

http://www.paneristi.com/reference/sortable_database/millesimation.html ( according to this I'd say the back engraving is legit )
http://www.network54.com/Forum/353391 ( here is another site you can dig into if you want )

I'd say from just looking a little deeper that the odds are in your favor and it is a gen.

Cheers-

Well, I don't know my friend.... I've now got the itch to know. The only pics I can find of a gen movement have no engraving on the winding arm, however all the reps do????? Hmmmm seems a little fishy to me.
I guess that as good as reps are apparently the only way to trust it is if you get papers... hate to say it, lesson for me is that if I ever buy another gen after seeing the quality of the reps on this site is ONLY going to be from a reputable brick and mortar dealer/AD

Or buy one that was never rep'd and extremely hard to do so e.g. my gen PAM074 with open caseback El Primero movement.
