i like that model i just wonder about the movement. how is the seagull? anyone know? it seems like there have been a few of this type made. im sort of waiting to see if something better comes along...
something much better is being made as we speak.
the factories are actually breaking their own silence with us and openly
communicating to the forums about these watches.
the new pams coming out from the V1 are very nice, and I'm not sure if
it's them, but whatever factory is making the new 312 is very picky. they
claim themselves to be perfectionists, and they wanted to get these new
mini-fiddy caseset autos correct. however the p.9000 movement issue is
a very big one to most, and even to the factory. so they're nervous that
all this work their doing on the rest of the watch will not profit for them
as they like because of the movement. they've asked the forums, through
a couple dealers for our opinions about how a crap movement would
affect the sale of the watches.
basically the answer they've gotten are that the noobs and ho hum collectors
would buy the watch anyway (but then again many of them would buy
these ones out now too), but those that are really into the brand and
are avid collectors would have a real problem with it. on RG, the sentiment
that the dealer took was basically a big fat no to the new models if the
movement is going to suck. stop working on them now, and switch to
something the avid collector will buy.
that something is what we expect next. a closed caseback watch or two.
we've basically lost faith in rep factories repping movements well. most
all rep movements suck, and there's flaws all over them. so a closed
caseback watch hides that, and allows them to at least get the rest of it
right. so expect a 005 maybe even an 000 and so on soon.
I still think the new mini-fiddy automatics will be released. they have the
cases done I think, I think even the bracelets and stuff are done too. in
fact a full blown sample might be available any day now of the completed
project. but it's basically a mystery what the movement will be. my guess,
if I were to make one, would be that they'd make a very accurate looking
rotor. but basically they'd leave it at that. the p.9000 looks nothing at
all like any rep movement in existence. it is possible, in many of our eyes,
to actually make an a7750 look fairly similar to the p.9000, even to make
it "close enough" for the avid collectors to buy it, but that would involve
making a longer rotor shaft. possibly running into clearance issues with
the rotor and the caseback, or with the rotor and the cover plate on the
movement that would need to be installed. and basically it's a task the
factory has said it does not want to undertake. will they try? doubt it,
but we're all hoping they do.
