Hi ive been offered this hulk sub for a price which makes me doubt its authenticity, was hoping some of the experts on here could have a look and see what they think? Everything photographed is what comes with the watch, no extra paperwork or anything just that card. Also the serial number at 6 o clock on the rehaut is different to No seriel on the card

thanks for any help

I'm leaning towards rep. The crystal does not display good black hole effect on the cyclops. The bezel insert appears too dark and the font looks to be the wrong tone. Lighting can affect this, but the pearl is also too much bubbled out vs how a gen pearl should look. The non matching serial number is a big red flag which adds to my opinion it's a rep and the warranty card is worthless. I'd ask for a movement picture, that is the only way to tell for sure. see this link for a good comparison of rep vs gen.

Thanks for your reply! glad to hear some of those thoughts, still interested in what anybody else thinks too :))

also just to confirm, that card is not a certificate is it? If onlt that card is present, then the watch has "no papers" correct?

thanks again

It's a rep - and if serial numbers don't tie up why even think of it ?

I just wasnt sure if there are numerous serial numbers for each watch, as the location of the serial number on my card is different to ones ive seen online, so just still thought it worth an ask :)

Ask for a movement picture. That should settle it for sure.

I think ive attatched a link to my photobucket on my first post?

Would i be okay to just go to a watchmaker and ask them to open the back or would it need to be rolex? I thought it voided the warranty if anyone apart from rolex opens it up?

Since I have serious doubts of its authenticity, this is the best way to address gen vs rep. The main concern is if you don't screw the caseback down tight enough afterwards, the water resistance will be compromised. Also, get some high resolution images so we can see better detail. I still think it is a rep. Perhaps the seller does not know he's got a rep?

I'm no expert but pearl and SELs seem spot on. Rehaut isn't 100% visible therefore no comment on that.

It looks gen to me.

It certainly looks gen, even if it's in very bad condition - dirty, scratched etc , but serial numbers on card/rehaut don't tie up . . . .

This isn't the first time I see an unmatching rehaut-card. Is it that uncommon?

Send / email the images to the dealer in South Africa. They should be capable to identificate the customer to whom it was issued back in 2012. Could be funny !

By any means deception: serial no. on card and rehaut are congruent, of course.

Do you mind me asking what price you are being offered this at? I still remain dubious that it's gen. The crystal does not appear gen as the only real differentiation between the crystal and the cyclops that gives any appearance of AR is the picture where the crystal around the cyclops is dirty, insert does not appear gen. I'd take it to a local watchsmith to open it up. Any competent watchsmith should be able to open it up and see the movement and then seal it back up afterwards. Also, the AD where it was originally sold from should have a record of the serial number on the watch if it was in fact sold there.
