I read some excellent reviews on 1950 models and maybe I missed it but they were categorized as 1st Class or near Super rep. Has that changed and do we now have a Super rep particularly a PAM312 or similar? If so, I'd love to get the info (factory, version, etc.) or link to TD page.

Also, a noob question, how does the GMT function work for a second time zone that has an x.5 hour difference? (e.x 3.5 hour difference). I think the second hand only indicate the whole hour at destination but correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks much!

ps: I apologize if the answer is buried in some post and I wasn't able to find it.

hi the current 1950s models with display back are not classified as super reps due to the inaccuracy of the decorated movements. the balance wheels on current 1950s are either at 11(a7750 movement) or 6 o'clock (newer updated seagull movement), which is still incorrect as the balance wheel on gens is at 7o'clock. also, the inscription "CAL P9000" is inverted on the reps, and also a faux escapement wheel (that jagged sawtooth looking wheel) is just there for purely cosmetic purposes. so taking these into account, among other things that i'm not well-versed enough to be able to describe to you, the 1950s with display backs cannot be classified as super reps, following Ale's criteria of course. if you noticed, the reps classified as super reps tend to have closed casebacks because the rep decorated movements can't be seen, thereby adding to the "super rep" quality. so to answer your question, the current range of 1950s with the seagull decorated p9000 movements are the closest you're going to get to "super rep" status.

Congrats
This is a very good answer !!
I like the sentence: "following ALE's criteria" because this is very important and the truth
Your considerations about First Class and Super reps are very appropriate and precise

I recommend to OP:
PAM 127 Noob
PAM 217 Noob
PAM 312 KW V2-Seagull

As GMT better go to Luminor PAM 088 O-series Noob or PAM 029 Noob V2

But in PAM GUIDE you have all info. Check the models ordered by types in Section B and then consult the review in Section A
"Reference PAM REVIEW-GUIDE" - Replica Search, Identification, Evaluation & Selection

Good luck

If you want a super rep 1950 style case, get a noob 243. It's a great OTB rep--maybe one of the most accurate pams to date. I think the KW 312 may be better finished, but the noob 243 isn't far behind. The gen uses a solid case back and 7750 modified movement just like the rep. I wear mine all the time and it's been terrific. I did do a little refinishing on mine to smooth out some rough edges (easy) and rebrushed the mid-case, which just takes a little patience but isnt' hard. It looks amazing:

Better save money for a real First Class or Super Rep, Spending money in cheap reps is to lose money IMO. You will never be really happy
Quality of the parts always will damage the appearance of the rep

Believe me. Better one good rep than two medium quality or low grade reps

If you are looking for a beginner price buy a PAM 390 H maker from Toro (175 USD), this is actually a Super rep and a real bargain
