Is there a dial swap tutorial?

Heya lads,

So, my brand new Clean pepsi, has the thin font problem which all new Clean batches appear to suffer from. My idea was to order a new dial and have it swapped. But, I can't find any jeweler who is willing to do it. Is there a tutorial that shows how to swap the dial of a GMT II? I couldn't find anything on youtube; just bezel swaps, unfortunately.

I understand that I would require to buy some tools, but I don't mind that. Interestingly enough, I bought these reps because I wanted to get into watchmaking but I never expected them to be this good. Now I treat this like my gens /facepalm.

Plenty of YouTube videos

Practice with a junk dial and hands multiple times before attempting this on a watch you care about. A GMT with 4 hands is more challenging to get all the hands aligned, level, and spaced vertically. There are some gotchas to look out for like not pressing the hour hand so far down that it scrapes the dial, not letting an upper hand scrape a lower hand, how to handle and clean hands, etc.

With no knowledge I would not recommend doing a dial swap. Trust me i'm talking from experience.. (destroyed hands, scratched dial etc..)

I dont know in which country / continent you are but you should check out this section:

There are great watchmakers that will do a dial swap with no problem.

Thanks for all the tips, guys.

I'm in Amsterdam and thus far, the watchmakers I called gave me a hard pass, unfortunately.

I watched a broken gmt tutorial a few times, though some steps were left away. Like, is the dial screwed on the movement?

From what I understand, I don't need to remove the bezel and crystal to swap the dial, this would make the whole ordeal much easier! Of course, removing and especially replacing the hands will be challenging, but I have an old cheap Sector lying around, which I can experiment with. I just need to order the correct tools!

Okay, I have a case opener and screwdrivers. Now I just need to order these and start experimenting:

hand levers

vinyl

cushion

Tray

Hand set tools, though I'll have to figure out which size is the proper one for the gmt

Shame the VSF dial doesn't fit on Clean! I could've done a swap.

You can get a lot of these items cheap on Aliexpress. No need for Bergeon.
