How reliable is the 21j movement against the Asian 7750 movement ? I mean...is it more or less accurate than the 7750 ? What is the usual daily delay of such a movement (how many seconds per day) ?
The A21J is a very simple, non-chronograph movement, whereas the 7750 is more robust and more complex. It is a copy of the ETA 7750 chronograph movement.
Ive got old asian 21j movements that keep within COSC specs. Ive got an ExpII from about 10 years ago with a cheap 21j movement that is the most accurate movement i have ever owned.
Hey guys...I have a noob question...Is there such a thing as Asian 23J Movement? If so, is it reliable like the 21J? I have my eye on an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Chrono from Hont http://www.hontwatch.com/productdetails_617.html
He lists it as a 23J on the site...Will the Chrono work?
Good question!
Here's the answer: The 21J is actually a 23 jewel MVT and has been for years. So, what you are looking at there is a 21J MVT listed correctly. No, the chronos will not work. For working Chronos you need either a 7750 or a ST-19 hand wind.
Given the choice of the same watch with a 23J or a quartz with working chronograph...which is better? I'm leaning towards the 23J, just need a little push..
Really it depends where you want to compromise,
21J - smooth sweeping seconds, auto movement, no chrono
Quartz - working chrono, non-smooth seconds, subdials likely to be different from gen
I think it depends on how the watch is assembled, usually pretty badly. 21Js are more simple so less to go wrong, and the biggest benefit is that they are cheap to replace if they go wrong.
I think the ETA clones are pretty good though these days, especially the 2836 and 2824.
From what I have read, I think 21j means low beat of 21600bph while clone ETA 2842-2 and Asian 7750 has high beat 28800bph which is smoother but a lot more expensive.
