Is my watch broken?

I had exams yesterday in class, so this past weekend was spent studying in the library from Friday to Sunday. With the amount of stress and what not, I didn't bother to put my watch on. I'd wake up, eat, shower, and go to study for several hours.

Today, I went to put my watch on and realized it wasn't working. I had winded the watch, and still no luck. Looked at the "power reserve" and the needle is extremely low. I've put a flashlight over the face, hopefully that will help restore the watch.

It's a Pan Marina Militare watch, that I purchased a few months ago from a member on RWG.

I'm in Atlanta, as far as the movement, not really sure. Why do you ask about the location.

A flashlight won't help it.... Just winding. Smak against your hand

Yeah, I really don't have the courage to do that...afraid it'll break.

Nvm, here is the information from the original seller.

Automatic-winding (power reserve when in motion)
Power Reserve 42 Hour (after 5 hours of motion)
Hand-winding (help reserving power faster)
Personalized oscillating weight
28,800 alternations /hour

Just wanted to know if you were CONUS...

PM Katt, he is a member here, you'll find him in the "Watchmakers and Horologists" section. If it is a 6497, he can take a look at it. He does excellent work and I think you'll be pleased with the price and the turnaround.

"Smaking" it against your hand... meh, could work. Probably wouldn't hurt anything. I'm thinking the first option would be your best one. ;)

Just noted the additional info...

Specification
Movement
Automatic mechanical 6497 Unitas movement
Automatic-winding (power reserve when in motion)
Power Reserve 42 Hour (after 5 hours of motion)
Hand-winding (help reserving power faster)
Personalized oscillating weight
28,800 alternations /hour.

So yes, it is a 6497.

If you can find a watchmaker locally, that would be another option.

You might also contact Jackson Tse and see what he can do for you??

Or, PM Katt. :D

Ok,
I'm going to ask a really stupid question:
When did a 6497 movement become an automatic? I thought that was a hand-wind movement.

Well I took the gamble anyways, and gave it a smack with my palm and now it's working. I set it under my flash light to hopefully get the power reserve elevated. I just pray it'll be working in the morning.

Damn, who would of thought getting in a fist fight with your watch would "fix" it... Good luck.

I think someone is confusing lume for "power reserve", thus the flashlight.

Giving a watch a smack to get it going is fairly common knowledge. Sometimes the movement stops in a precarious position and cannot restart automatically when wound. The jolt gets it un-stuck. I've had this happen with a gen Rolex too.

Charging the lune with a flashlight makes more sense, but will have no effect on power reserve etc.

PM headed to the OP.

So unfortunately, while this did work I decided to readjust the time, since it wasn't properly working.

I pulled the guard down and pulled on the circular pin, while doing so, I noticed something break and now the time won't adjust. The circular pin is lop-sided, and off balance.

As I said, "smaking" may not be the best option...

Might I suggest the info I provided you earlier??

He would have had to smack the crap put of it to break the stem. Sounds like he may have gotten a bad one from the get-go.
Ask Jackson about a repair since it's pretty new. Otherwise send it to Katt.
