Is it worth to relume the latest PAM243 ?

So is it worth? How much brighter it'll make it? If the watch already has C3 lume from the factory which is the top dog in lume paint, what else can he use to make it brighter?
I'm asking because I was looking to buy an older, cheaper version of 243 and send it to VAC for a relume job. I don't care to much about the accuracy of the rep as I care about the lume brightness, I want this to be the brightest watch possible, brighter than my Seiko Monster. Seeing that nobody has one for sale I'll throw some extra cash and get the latest version from a TD , but if that one needs a relume job to make it brighter, it's not worth it.

Buy it and see.

A relume won't be as bright as you think.

So if the watch has uniform, well applied C3 paint from the factory why is it worth it to spend another $150+ to have the same paint reapplied ?

It's not going to cost you $150. Second , the factory lume is rarely applied evenly. Every keeper watch I have has been relumed. As a matter of fact, my DSSD is headed to Strodda tomorrow.

Lumibrite is just Seiko's name for superluminova C3. So one would not be better than the other. Only the monsters have larger areas where the lume is applied so I guess it would appear that it's brighter than PAMs.

Yeah exactly the more physically large surface area filled with lume watch will have brighter lume
Seiko monster has really large indexes filled will lume and therefore will out glow most watches
The 243 indexes just aren't that big

The only way for the 243 to beat the monster is to lume the whole dial.

What is lume?

 But better to ask questions than to remain ignorant. OK Maxx

Extracted from PAM GUIDE Glossary:

Lume- It is the system used for timepieces to be read in the dark, a luminescent material is laid on the dial indexes and hands.

Related words:
Luminova- Modern luminescent material currently used for the lume in the Panerai watches
Tritium (lume-dial)- It is the name used to nominate the dials which have a Luminescent material based in Tritium. Used by Panerai from 1946.
Sandwich (dial)- Sandwich dials are where numbers and minute markers are cut out of the metal plate which forms the visible dial (behind the crystal). Behind this is a second metal plate with recessed areas where a thick luminous paste is applied, the areas corresponding to the cut-outs in the first metal plate, thus “sandwiching†the luminous material between the two metal plates.
Sausage (dial)- It is a dial with just one layer where the luminescent material is applied directly over the dial markers (usually embossed) and the final appearance is like a “sausageâ€.

the lume on the 243 is very good, it will not get better when you send it for reluming.

Domi relumed the hands on my 243 to match the index color. Now hands and index are the same.
I still can see the time after 8 hours in the dark.
