Is it worth getting a used watch just for its movement (2824-2) to put in a rep?

On local classifieds I found a watch with a 2824-2 movement. It looks quite in good condition, does not look worn and costs a 100€.
I recently got a BB58, with clone movement which works okay for now, but winding and using it is quite rough compared to seiko's or other ETA's movement watches that I own.

My question would be is is worth it? Maybe I should just go for seagul ST2130? Or maybe the movement would not fit at all?

It is not a problem now, since it works fine, but I just want to save it for the future if the problem comes up. I usually go with "if its not broken/don't fix it" attitude, but gen ETA 2824-2 for 100€, maybe 80€ with a bit of haggling. Is an opportunity that I am unsure if I should pass. Its a nice dress watch anyways, could stay in the box for a while.

here is some pictures of possible donor watches for reference, not the same pics from ad

The movement would fit but how old is it? It may need a service which would increase its cost. I would just get a Seagull unless it's a really special rep.

If you do decide to buy a gen movement, this Ebay seller is great. There are some things you will need to do when swapping a movement like transferring over the datewheel if the fonts don't match, and maybe changing the hands pinions to a taller height. Save these links for later if you want to go that route. Selitta used to make parts for ETA and when the patents expired they just kept producing but under their own name. Selitta is gen Swiss.

Its nothing special. Zf Tudor BB58, date has to be deleted anyways. Ill ask about how old is the watch and will see. I will try to get it for 60-80. The problem with seagull is that I am a bit skeptical about it. It might be as bad as the one that ZF uses.

I often buy second hand watches with Gen movements if the price is right... There is a small difference between 2824-2 and 2824 in the date change so keep that in mind. As a previous member already pointed out, it could lead to an service if the watch is too old but nevertheless, a Gen eta 2824-2 movement for roughly 100 bucks is a good deal in my opinion.

Per @KJ2020 's excellent advice, you will likely have some parts swapping ahead of you. Be sure you know what you're getting into. It's not all that difficult but it might be daunting if you've never disassembled and reassembled a movement.

Im debating on doing it myself or taking it to a local watchmaker. Hands is what scares me.

I have done it plenty of times. But, depending on what clone you have, I have found some clones can be quite as nice...for instance, some clones have extra jewels in the autowind mechanism and the mainspring bridge while some ETA movements are just bushings....

Swapping to ETA IMO is not always necessary.

Its ZF tudor blackbay58. I dont think that its a good clone. I have a tissit with powermatic 80 movement. Rotor is queter, winding feels better and spring slipping is unnoticible, but on this one it feels like its fighting something.

I’m assuming you have limited experience on the bench. While the 2824-2 is not terribly difficult to learn on, it is not as easy as (for example) a 3135.

If you are asking with no intention to service the movement, do as @KJ2020 has suggested. Buy a new or “low milage” movement and, since the original ETA is no longer protected, there are excellent and virtually identical moments to be had for a lot less money and without buying a donor watch.

Did not buy anything. Plan is to use it as is until it runs or needs a service and then get a new movement.
