There are 60000 members on this forum alone. I guess a vast majority own Pam or Rolex. Considering Pam sells only couple of thousand watches worldwide, I am guessing there are a lot of rep owners out there. The thought just crossed my mind.

In 2000, production of Watches Panerai Luminor and Radiomir has not exceeded 17,000 pieces.
In 2005 he sold 35,000 watches......

total members = 60,000
active members 50%= 30,000 (monthly)
actual rep owners 75% = 22,500
75% of them probably own a rolex OR pam = 16,875
so if you say 50% own pam and 50% own rolex you probably only have 8000 members with a PAM on here...
NOTE: nothing scientific about this at all... i really think PAM has sold more than 8000 watches.

So take a linear growth of 3600 units per year over the previous year... and really its been much much larger due to popularity lately... you have at least 550,000 watches sold between 2000 and 2013... so just a rough estimate... for every rep PAM, you have 40 or more real ones walking around (this accounts for other rep sites and just randoms buying Canal reps)
Anything would be a guess. Some on this forum own both reps and gens. It's a toss up what one will wear on a given day.:unsure2:
I think we are grossly overrepresenting the proportion of rep owners who use these forums.
I would guess that forum members represent 10% at best since there are many non-English speaking rep owners, including those in China, where the reps are made.

To get a good number we would have to get PAM to tell us how many watches they have sold so far and then ask all the factorties how many pam reps they have sold.... problem being a trade secret on the qty sold and then rep factories lack of paperwork
I can say this for myself. Since I own 4 Pam reps, all from noob, if I see someone wearing a Pam, esp ones that are common, my first reaction is to wonder if they're wearing a rep. I m screwed!
