Hi everyone,

I stumbled onto this site looking for information on MM20s and building/customizing PAM style homages.

Wanted to stop in to say hi and share my little collection with everyone.

I don't own any reps ( at least not yet...I do have one incoming though from one of the masters on RG ) So I'll be part of the club soon.

Here are my homages:

And these are two that I purchased in hopes of learning the art:

The SS one has swiss 6497 but is running +5 mins a day. I'd like to either learn how to regulate the motor or swap it with another. The case is also pretty banged up and I'm hoping to make it vintage like. I'd also like to replace the dial with a sterile one.

The PVD one works perfectly. It also has a swiss 6497. For this one I'm looking to sterilize the dial.

I have no experience whatsoever in doing any of the things I want to do. But that's where this site and RWG and RG comes in. I'm hoping to learn from you all

That's it for now thanks for looking.

Welcome, lex! Good looking watches you've got there. Especially the California dial Rad. I miss mine, since I sold it. I need to order another one.

How long have you had the watch that is running 5 mins fast a day? These movements are adjustable, but I would honestly leave that to a watch smith to handle for you. Any decent watch smith should be able to adjust a 6497 for you.

As far as sterilizing the dial, I've heard that a little bit of mineral spirits on a Q-tip works well to remove the printed wording.

Good luck and I can't wait to see these as finished projects.

Thanks Hooligan for the warm welcome.

Regarding the watch that's running 5mins fast I bought it off a sales forum (not here). The seller told me it was running a bit slow ... little did I know  No big deal. Live and learn.

I did consider on bringing it to a watch smith but figured I will use it as a learning tool :D

As for sterilizing the dials, I will try mineral spirit. Thnx for the info.

At this point I'm just gathering the tools that I need. Unforunately, I'm lacking the funds, so it's taking me a bit of time to get everything I need. But I'm getting close

If you want to go the "trial and error" route for adjusting your watch, there is a small regulator needle that is attached to the mainspring of the movment. One direction should have a "+" sign (faster), the other direction will be a "-" sign (slower). Slide that needle slightly toward the the minus sign from where it currently is and it should slow the movement down some. Be careful, a small amount of movement should make a big difference.

Good luck!

welcome....

you are being helped ! ( lets hope so )

look at the hourwheel ( balance wheel ) the spoked wheel that swings to the left and right...

above that, there are 2 arms, which hold the coiled spring ( balance spring )

if you move the top arm away from the bottom one the regulator needle will slide into the plus zone - the watch will go faster.

move it closer together......watch will go slower.

MOVE VERY CAREFULLY.....ONLY HALF A MILIMETER max. - THEN CHECK WATCH AGAIN AFTER 24hrs.

i add a pic. understood ?
