hello everyone,

I'm interested in this AP:

http://www.puretimewatch.com/product/royal-oak-offshore-ultimate-ss-black-updated/

I would like to know what you think about this in terms of how accurate it is to the GEN. Or if you have some personal experience, I would love to hear from you.

Where do you think is the best dealer to get this from?

Thanks in advance.

It's a stunning watch...very well made...the only risk is about the modification of the movement but nothing that cannot be resolved...

Go for it....ask Guru about that watch..

Thanks. Is there any reason why I would want to modify the movement? It's already a 28800 movement.

I know that with the clear back hublot big bangs, many people modify the rotors, regulators etc to make it look real.

Thanks for the feedback.

that is because seconds at 12 is a modification done to a base 7750. I suggest wearing it until it craps our(or doesn't). then switch to an eta 7750 from domi

hello OP.
The Black Themes is a beautiful watch, and that example is as close to gen as you are going to get. It is very close to gen, the only real tell is the proximity of the date window to the rehaut (the ring with the tachymeter); its too close on the rep.

To familiarise yourself with this particular movement i suggest reading the following threads. They explain the problems and fixes.

And something I have been pondering as another key to solving seconds@12 issues.

An AP is a grail watch of mine. I do intend at some point to follow a path similar to Guru, sans the eta7750 and plus the dlc of the top plates(perhaps).

Like all asian 7750s the movements lack oil, sec@12 adds further complications of friction due to the additional gears that are not jewelled, and gears that are not aligned properly during assembly in China. Factor in the cost of a movement servicing to maximise the life of the movement.

PS; any of the trusted dealers should be able to get one for you. If you live in the EU you may want to try one of the EU dealers. I think PreciousTime is one.

thx polaris 1+, very good summary

The problem is the transfer of the seconds from 9 to 12.
You find the solutions in the links above. I have a lot of watches and most of them
are modded, the AP is very very close to the gen and one of my favourite watches.

If you get it, you always can do a service on it.
If you do not have the money for it, get the watch with
sec at 9. Since this watch is about 18 k USD, not many people
will recognize it. and you will not have any problems.

Here is a pic for some appetite
