Hi everyone,
Really happy to be here, first post thread and nice to find a place full of people who love watches as much as I do!
I’ve been thinking lately about how much things like heritage, branding, and price seem to drive the watch world. Sometimes it feels like actual design doesn’t get the attention it deserves. Personally, I’m not into RM or J&Co, but they seem to get a lot of hype. So I wanted to throw out a question:
Imagine you are an alien that just landed on Earth. You're highly advanced (obviously), and your species doesn’t care/understands about brand, logos, celebrities, branding, history, heritatge. There’s no past, only the present. Everything is made perfectly, no flaws, no finishing to compare, no waiting lists, no resale value . Just pure designs.
If you look at Gérald Genta’s 3 integrated bracelet designs (in 20205 re-designed) , which one would you choose based purely on design, and why?
Curious to hear your thoughts!
