From what I've read, looks like Noob is the way to go. However, the spacing of the "PANER AI" font spacing in most of their watches bothers me. Are there models that are highly recommended without the font spacing issue? I was looking at the 111 "v3" but it still has that problem. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't be bothered with PANER_AI, you probably won't even see it when you'll wear it. Go for it, I'll upgrade soon on it from my H-fac version. ;)
Other than that you can go with new 8 days collection from KW with P.5000 clone movement but I prefer the look of 6497 so 111 for me.

or you could check out some of KW's pieces. 312/351/359/388/505 or their newer 44mm luminor range 510, 560, 561, 562, 563, 564 all pretty good reps apart from some small flaws here and there

Thanks for your replies. What about the Noob PAM 320? Seems like it doesn't have the spacing issue. Any thoughts on the watch itself?

No needed going to PAM 320, because gen is a GMT 12hrs whereas rep is GMT 24hrs, you have PAM 312 without GMT function and without this evident flaw.
Read PAM GUIDE for more info about that

KW has real croc for about 100USD, but you had better going to a custom croc

I'm getting so confused now. too many options. Just read a review of the KW359 and that's now drawing me in. Ideally, I want something that will be closest to GEN without having to modify anything, including the strap. I'm going blind with the wealth of information here on this forum. I almost need someone to steer me in the right direction.

No needed to get confused everything is clear
KW PAM 312 is closer to gen by far than KW PAM 359
If you are looking for accuracy, leaving aside movement, KW PAM 312 is almost perfect

Thanks for all your help. I know why you're the moderator of the year now. I thought that the KW 359N and KW312 O were the same watch except different dials. is that not so? I just prefer the dial and simple strap on the 359.

PAM 359 is all case and bezel completely polished
PAM 312 is case brushed and bezel polished
Really different watches

Are you guys knocking the Noob v3 PAM 111? At under $300 shipped from Andrew or Angus it's a great deal (make sure you get the fixed dial, there's a GREAT guide here about that), has that classic PAM appeal, and is almost perfect out of the box. As a FIRST PAM, that would be my personal opinion (bowing down to the PAM Gods on this forum who have helped me in more ways than they know)... Ironically enough, I have 3 PAMS: the KW 320 mentioned by everyone else, the 111 I reference, and a genuine F series 113 (why? Cause you gotta have a white dial - that, and I got a sick deal on it 'cause purists hate the dial layout)

Dear god, it's huge. Or is that your wife's wrist?

Sorry. I'm starting to think I should measure my own wrist before I order my first PAM...

Looks great. Hope you enjoy it. Getting more straps is a Panerai tradition and makes rep Pam collecting feel more gen like imo.

Thanks. That's my wife's wrist and she's petite. I already have a strap on order. Good advice.
