I got my first Panerai 2 months ago. One of the new Daylights and had it relumed by VAC. I love this watch its the perfect size. Im a rubber guy so I got rid of the bracelet. Now I have 2 more in my sights. 253 and a GMT 088/9. These have definetly grew on me since being introed into the rep world a little over a year ago.

For some reason panerai's seem to have that affect on people. At first your not sure if your gonna like the way it looks and fits on you so you get 1 to test the waters and then all of a sudden you have 8 in your collection.

And it doesn't just stop with the watch itself, then you fall into another category of searching for the perfect leather straps!!!!

actually I highly doubt Ill be interested in leather straps.
1. I sweat a lot living here in FL and that would mean funk. plus im sure the strap would have marks.
2. I dont like the leather look. I really love the rubbers.

then again a year ago I wondered why the hell these watches are so popular.

I used to be exactly like you...a bracelet/rubber only kinda guy, and didn't deviate at all. I would never have paid any more than $10 for a leather strap, and then only if I absolutely needed one. Now most of my watches are either on leather or have a leather backup strap...I've commissioned 4 custom watch straps (with 2 more on the way)...and I don't flinch at $100+ for a strap. PAMs really change your perspective on things ;)

Oh another reason for not being a leather guy is im color blind. With all these shades and styles I really couldnt tell what goes with what seriously. When I see all those sale threads I know they are different colors but only by a shade or two I cant really see the difference.

lol colorblind here too. I just stick with different shades of brown and black, with the occasional gray. Usually stuff that I can wear with everything.
