I received a different watch than the one in the QC pictures!

The watch is an H-Maker PAM212J. QCs looked great and I took note of the movement markings as per the PAM Guide:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Be careful because I-series H maker and some J-series too, have rotor wrong engraved jewels OPXVIII instead of 30 jewels OPXIX
Review of PAM 212 J-series from H maker here:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I received the watch I checked it over and noticed that it had the wrong engraving "OPXVIII". The serial number is the same so they either swapped the back onto an entirely new watch or they replaced the movement in the watch that was QCed. Either way, I think it's a problem that the TD would send a watch that is different from the one in the QC pictures.

At this point I'm not saying which TD it is - I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He has offered to take it back but I think he should pay for shipping.

Any comments or thoughts?

Hi, it´s a beautiful PAM, imo a Flyback is needed in the collection anyway and I´m loving mine for well over a Year - had the same issue and the OP18 engraving. Except in the first few days totally forgot about it and just enjoy it for the nice watch it is. I would just try it out, check it´s time-keeping and power reserve, shoot pics from all angles and most probably keep it if it´s the only issue. The movement isn´t gen-like anyway. Have fun

Mixups suck after all the work on both ends. If you reeeeeally were set on the right one, might just enjoy and then sell, or sell as unworn and buy another. Shipping back to China.... from what I've read, let me put it this way... avoid the risk and 1-4 month wait. I personally would not. Sorry it's disappointing either way, but flexibility helps soften the blow. Hope it works out.

Thanks for the kind and wise words. The fact that he sent a different watch from the QC is what bothers me the most. I'll most likely just keep it as is.

Mate, that picture is utterly fantastic! Did you take it? That's some serious talent.

Thanks again guys - Ken

Update: The TD explained that, following the QC, he tested the watch and it stopped running after a little while. He sent it back to H-Factory and asked that they swap the movement. He didn't notice that the markings were wrong. In any case, he is going to send me a new rotor with the proper markings. He went out of his way to sort this out - everyone's happy!

Cheers - Ken

And that is why members are recommended to buy from TDs, they will go the extra mile if they have to if it was clearly a fault on their part. So now instead of having to send the watch back, you just need to wait for the rotor, that is a much better plan and would get you your watch fixed in a very short time. ;)

That sounds really good, what a nice solution. Good reason (2xtimes) to stay with that TD, now that it is explained, great he noticed the movement and fixed it before shipping.
Glad You liked the pics:) here´s one of my fav. views of the 212:
