So I popped my Panerai cherry with a more vintage model from a fellow RWI member. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I must say that I am extremely impressed. It's a bit more dinged up than I expected, but the crystal looks flawless and I can't find too many flaws with it at all.
I think I'm in love.
Of course, being an absolute newbie and never in my life ever seeing any Panerai in person (replica or gen) I have no clue about any inaccuracies. This watch seems to have been a labour of love of the previous owner, and he lists a bunch of details about it in his for sale post here. Before I contacted him, I searched all of his posts pertaining to the watch and had a pretty good idea of how he built it. From the sounds of it, he had complained that the crown was inaccurate, but good enough for his liking. Any other observations about this watch?
I must say I love the character of this watch, even the little scratches on the case and the worn down parts of the strap. I'm quite happy with this purchase.
