Huge price increase for Daytona 116500 V4 and some other watches

About 3 weeks ago I was planning to purchase a Daytona 116500 V4 A4130 with shipping for $715. Now that same watch cost $1,188 before shipping. What's the deal? Can anyone tell me why the price hike and where can I find another site who sells this exact model cheaper?

TDs are having to get them from resellers who are looking to profit from the situation. Stock is limited so prices will rise as stock reduces.

I am sorry to say that it seems that you are not aware of the whole picture. Noob factory, the ones that supplied the version you are looking for, is out of business due to police raids in China. The chances of getting one are very slim, no matter which TD you ask.

Thanks for the clarificatioon Plaasbaas . I currently see one on JTime for cheaper. Would you say that they're pricing hasn't been updates or their stock is inaccurate? Is it not a safe time to buy this particular model? This is my first time purchasing a rep and this is the only watch I am looking for. Your advice is much appreciated.

TD's do not keep stock in general. They go the factory to get your watch, once you have ordered and paid for it in advance - IF that watch is available. They would update their website with new models, but almost never delete models that are not available anymore. Therefore it is advisable to always ask the TD if your desired watch is available BEFORE ordering.

Although JTime is an exceptionally good TD in my opinion, I doubt that he can get your watch. But never hurts to ask!

keishara yes, I would also not feel comfortable even if an overpriced Daytona was somehow obtainable through obscure channels.

This is down to you. If you don't care about thickness, working subdials or a few more inaccuracies, there are alternative options out there at sensible prices.

If it's your grail watch, you have plans to upgrade it with gen parts, want to make a one watch collection, have money to spend etc then perhaps you can justify the markup. The value is in the eye of the beholder.
