How water-tight will these non-screw down crowns get ?

Newly purchased Pam312, had local watchsmith check crystal gaskets, greasing them up.
However he didn't want to mess with crown or guard. I read this post:

"the crown/crown guards are pretty poor in panerai reps
and they are not easy to get nice and water tight. they typically don't carry the
same sealing mechanism as the gens and are more difficult to ensure water
tightness with. it's not about the cg, it does it's job usually holding the crown
shut, it's the way the crown and tube are made. I'm not sure, but I think the gens
have a double o ring sealing system and our reps just use one at the base.
it's always best to use a screw down crown watch or at least a crown guarded
pam for water stuff. any pull out crown watches are scary."

Sooo............ should I look further into having someone else waterproof this thing or would it be pointless? I prefer to be able to swim/shower in my watches, but also don't want to damage it. Thanks for tips

This is always a problem with a replica. Due to they not have a correct Quality control (or not at al) they are not reliable in many subjects and the waterproofing is one of them.
Most likely your rep is waterproof for swiming and shower but you cannot guarantee it.
To be sure you will need a waterproofing service by one of our watchsmiths

ALE,
my question was:
Can our watchsmith modders correctly perform the waterproofing service??
Reason I ask is because I was unsure, due to the above post says rep Pams use only one O-Ring in Crown instead of Two like Gen - One O-Ring doesn't properly seal it and therefore not really possible to waterproof.

So it can be done then?

There are many manufacturers of Panerai reps, they don't all produce the same parts, and therefore are not all of equal quality (building quality is very important when it comes to waterproofning).

Without knowing which watch you're talking about, no way to tell you how are the chances it may be "waterproofable".

The crown is not the problem on that watch, it's pretty water tight, but the seating of the case back crystal is more of an issue.

Hi Wiz
Nice to see you here
Thanks for your advice

jpohl you are now in good hands !

Concerning the estructure of the watch, bear in mind you are looking for a waterproofing of about 10m you don't need 300m waterproofing !! I hope !! ... LOL
