Hi all,

Im buying a swiss eta 2836 rolex rep but the question is :
How do i know that it is a swiss and not just an asian 2836 eta replica ?

I have a case opening kit for rolex so i will be able to open it up as soon as it arrives

Does any one have any pics that compare the two types ?

Hope someone can help me out,

Kind regards

Post up a pic of your movement. I'm sure we can help ya out...

I believe one of the easiest tells is that the small winding gears on the watch have holes in them on the real ETA and those holes are missing on the clone movements.

With the interchangeable parts of these movements it's much harder to tell anymore. I would suggest ordering a 2836 from a watch supplier to have for purposes of comparison. Also BK posted this in this link below.

According to him the gears (two click wheels ) on the 2836 have more holes in them than the wheels on the clone 2836. The only problem with verifying this is that you will need to remove the winding bridge to expose the wheels on some of the clones.

Maybe not much help but like Hooligan says, post some good pics if you can and maybe that will help.

Almost impossible to tell unless you dismantle the movement unless it's a real cheap clone movement.
If it is one of the newer ones will never tell from a picture in a million years.
I think Francesco did a thread on it recently where he had bought a clone and was amazed and thought it may be original ETA
We have for the last 18 months only used ETA movements supplied by Authorized ETA distributor because the factory cannot be relied on to supply Gen ETA
