How to silence an 8215??

I just got a new Omega Aqua Terra with a Miyota 8125 in it. The watch itself is great and the movement is keeping excellent time, but it is really loud. I can readily hear the rotor spinning, almost clunking, on my wrist. The rotor is not hitting the caseback at all, just spinning freely.

Is there anything I can do to quiet the rotor?

might just need oiled. Reps are usually going to be a little noisy a lot of times. noisier than gens are, but if they are oiled properly it can quiet them down some.

U.K.
This movement is well known for a noisy rotor regardless of what it is fitted into sadly.

Will try to oil it, but I know they are noisy - just surprised how loud it is relative to the 7750 and ETAs I have.

You know the Seiko repair manual suggests using a TINY bit of silicon grease (the kind used to seal O-rings) on the rotor bearing.

I suppose it would be alright for any automatic if used sparingly enough.

Yes the Miyota 8125 movement [Citizen] has a loud spinning rotor. Most of the newer 'Bulova' watches sporting an auto movement have them. Bulova is now owned by the Citizen Watch Co. Ltd. [Miyota] of Japan. Having seen those watches 'Bulova', sporting that movement in better department stores here in Los Angeles, it does whirl with a sound !! So I guess it really is like that. Enjoy it, it is a workhorse movement !!

OP, have you tried to oil or grease the rotor bearings on the Miyota 8215? It has the loudest rotor noise of the few movements I have too. It's the only unidirectional one I have though. I have my doubts that it can be quieted by a significant amount. The noise just seems a result of the high speed rotation of the rotor in the non-winding direction. Just a design 'feature'. I'm also curious if the Miyota 9015 would have the same behavior too.

Ok, so this question may be as noob as it can get, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to remove the rotor on the A8500!! There seems to be a screw in the hole of the rotor but it rotates along with the rotor in the same direction. The problem is the same as described by the OP, loud clunking noise (not the winding noise) when the rotor is oscillating to a stop, even in small movements. It's really annoying! Pro's, shout out to you guys for help! Thanks. Oh I have a two tone AT 150 brown dial from Ryan. Great guy, great watch, dial colour is off but still really nice. Will post pics soon. Thanks again
