I'm thinking about making my own custom Bund Strap and this is the first video I found. So far it looks pretty neat so I thought I'd share. :)

Thanks for sharing. I wish I could make any strap, it's not the cutting or the finishing that's the problem for me. I can't stitch if my life depended on it.....

I got started on an old belt using this as a guide. Thanks for posting here BTW! It makes a good starters guide. Need that leather shaver tool, the ends on mine are still too thick. Thinking of using a small snap-fastener instead of stitches, anyone tried it?

I'm on my 4th strap. I just ordered the shaver off eBay. I've been trolling my local goodwill stores for some vintage used leather belts. Found some pretty good stuff. You have to be careful of belts that are not full grain leather, they have layers in them witch are a paper like padded filler. As soon as you cut them to shape, they will split apart and shed.

Having a hard time finding the lacing punch.

I picked up one of these on eBay...Seiwa Diamond Hole Punch, Leather Craft Tool 4x4mm. Spacing is ideal for 20mm widths.

Here is one I just saw that seems to be very reasonable and there are different spacing options ...Item number: 170579573956

There are a few leathercraft sites out there too that have full ranges of tools.

Yeah I found one, also picked up a variable hole punch at Lowes. I have a few old leather belts lying around. Real soft too. They might be to thick though. Having a hard time figuring out the founding back onto itself after sheaving it down thing.

Also what's the proper thickness of the leather that's workable.

Where do you find the right leather. I would like 2mm thick so I can fold it onto itself. Any ideas?

If you're looking to fold the full length of the strap (as opposed to just the ends as per the tutorial) then I'd be looking to somewhere like Tandy Leather and buy hide. A strap cutter tool would also come in handy for that thickness.

There are some nice ideas on strap making and designs over at homage forum btw.

Thanks. Yeah I'm looking to do a full length fold on my next project. Belts are to thick.
