Hi Guys, not new here but it's my first post.

I have this LV that I've dropped and the cyclops came loose and now I have to re-attach it but don't know how.

Can anyone chime in if you do know how to?
Thanks a mill...

Dont use too much, but if you do, once its good and dry, acetone on a Q-tip takes its off with a little elbow grease. Just dont get it on the insert ;)

If you're not too particular about using the very best, Loc-Tite makes a uv glass adhesive that works fine and is much cheaper and easier to buy.

I've heard about the Loc-Tite and it's available locally.
The only thing now is how to do it.

just clean the cyclops and the crystal and put a very small dab on the back of the cyclops and put it in position. Clean up any excess and then put it in the sun for about 10 minutes and you're done. It's very simple.

If you find any excess after it cures you can use acetone to clean it up.

Guys, how about for a vintage with an acrylic crystal? I am swapping out the crystal on my Puretime red 1680 with a Clark T19. If I ever want to go back to the cyclops look, I will have to buy another Clark. The problem is the Puretime date window is shifted over too far and the date magnifier will be off center.

Is there a way to remove the magnifier on an acrylic crystal and then reseat it in the correct position?

AFAIK, on the acrylic, the date window is molded on the crystal in one piece.

Not 100% sure about that, though. You better save the old one just in case.

No. It's molded into the crystal. You can shave it off and then repolish the crystal, but you cannot remove and reinstall it.

I've been told that once I get a custom retainer ring I'll be SOL as far as re-using the old one is concerned. I'm pretty much committed to gen or gen-spec after that point, which means anything with a cyclops is going to be kitty wompus.

Do you guys know if there is a sapphire equivalent to these sizes? I'd rather have a sapphire, anyway. With a sapphire I could remove the cyclops and reseat it if I ever wanted to go back to that look.

The original crystal is one piece, the cyclops is part of the crystal.
You can use the T19 for the no cyclops look.... or better yet, a T38..if you can find and afford one :). The good news is Clark's are so cheap to just buy a new crystal if you go the sanding route. There is no sapphire for a 1680 and it would look wrong for a vintage Rolex. I know they have conversions for the small DJ's, precisions etc, but on a full size sub not so good. The way the sapphire is held in is different construction too. I'm not big on the cyclops myself, that's problably why the 1680 is the only Rolex sports model I don't own or haven't owned.. lol.
I think you'll be happiest with a low service version T19 in your watch.

Thanks for the explanation, woof! I appreciate the info. That is exactly what I purchased - the Clark T19 which is the equivalent of the service T19. I'll post up pics of it once it is done. I'm going to have the lugholes expanded for gen springbars, and a gen crown installed at the same time.

Sounds like J has your watch :)
I'm not sure how many versions of the T19 Clark make....maybe just the one?
But the one I have is almost identical to my gen T19's...it's that good :)

You guys won't believe this, brought the watch to the local watch smith and he just used crazy glue and he's a certified rolex repair guy. It stayed perfect!!!

He wasn't too fond about doing but he still did fixed it and for only $10

Loc-tite and Super Glue are the same company. Same glass adhesive I was talking about.
