If you want to spend the money up front and pay for the servicing have it done and it will extend the life of the movement, however out of the factory they hardly ever fail due to lack of service. A lot of people dont like the Asian movement cause most watchsmit wont work on the them and its hard to find parts of them if they need them but they are becoming more common and more reliable. I have not had a Asian movement serviced and they are all running fine. On ocasions they will require regulating so they run better if they are loosing or gaininng to much time each day. Servicing can cost you arround 75.00.
You could probably wait and run it till it dies then send it in for service. My asian 6497 just died on me, but I think I'm gonna trade it in for a swiss version maybe fully modded
