How much should a good PAM leather strap cost

I am fairly new to the PAM game and I saw some with some totally awesome, thick and healthy, leather straps on RWI.

I'm wondering, how much should I expect to pay for good leather strap for a PAM? It does not have to be the best, but definitely not the worst.

I ordered a couple on the bay, but they were not very good ($20 - $30 price range). I went for 6mm thick, but when I received it, it was thinner than my REP strap. I've looked in the RWI section for straps, but I cannot tell which ones are the nicer ones from the pics - they look the same to me.

I already conducted an advanced search and there was no topic this specific, that I could find. If this topic already exist, can someone please point me in the right direction...

there are a few good reasonably priced sellers on the bay... bob straps and antique leather straps come to mind. they have straps in the $20 to $50 range.
panatime is also a good source if you want to stay under $50.
over $50 i would go with a lower cost gunny ... i think you can get one as low as 80.
Many many good options if you want to spend over a $100.

with PAMs more than any other watch, the strap makes a huge difference--since you asked my opinion. My straps have come from Savage and Gunny and Elliot and cost between $100--175 each. They have made all the difference in the world to the PAM.

I've just ordered that new 026 and rumour has it that the rep. leather strap it comes with is pretty darn good. My guess is that it may be good--for a rep. strap--but that any one of the new super-reps will beg for a super-strap from a dedicated strap-maker.

Don't forget..... buy one good strap and you can switch it from watch to watch pretty easily if you budget won't allow several.

+ 1 good strap blows away the 026k strap. Excellent deals to be had on second hand straps if your patient. Picked up a heroic for $ 50 the other day. Kain is very reasonable for the quality.

I have to say... I love this Mario Paci's !! In the future I'll go for it for sure!

For now I've just ordered one from Septimus ad another from Jeremy on Primestraps.

The Septimus 10MTP Strap is already done (after 3 weeks of waiting) and delivered... I can´t wait to wear it on my wrist with the 318... (ordered for a 177M but while waiting I'll put it on the318 and see how it fits...)

Some QC pics that Septimus sent me of the strap:

Not cheap but worth the money!! 130€ (about 185-190$) shipped and paypaled.

So... I would say:

Bad quality: 20 - 50$
Normal quality: 50 - 80$
Good quality: 80 - 130$
Awesome quality: 130 - 200$
Mario Paci: +200$

Between $100 and $150 is a pretty nice strap, especially if you buy used. I have a 6mm thick strap and it's downright imposing to look at.

Think it's good to get to know some people in the community in order to have the opportunity to touch, feel and try on some of the straps that other members have.

Otherwise you can order one or two from different makers to try. Can always sell them off if the need arises...

Honestly, I think true pam straps are way overrated. There are so many great affordable strap options.

I got mine custom made from acharria here, and it's a stunner without breaking the bank (too much). There's a lot to be said for a strap built to your own spec re: color, stitch, length, etc.

@Supermanx... If you're referring to OEM Pam straps being over-rated, I would tend to agree. They are nice, but many better options exist in that price range.

I've acquired good straps from a low of a 20$ Buffalo Hide BOB in 26mm to a full custom Delauriun which cost plenty... I've also got several great work horse straps in the 50 to 150 range.

OEM is nice, but full custom for the same price trumps OEM every time.

Hate to be a wet blanket but ive bought dozens of straps and my acharria strap is the worst. Total rubbish. Use price as a rough guide but don't think of it as a definative guide to quality.
