How many of you have (or have had) problems with your 2824 UPO's?

I'm told that many of the TD's are getting returns/exchanges due to unreliability of the A2824. As a result, some TD's like Trevor, are suggesting getting the A4813 UPO instead.

I was going to get a UPO but I will hold off until this "issue" is clarified.

I am guessing that you heard this from Trevor. I happen to like Trevor and have bought a fair share of watches from him, including a A4318 UPO, based on his advice to go with the 4318 over the 2824. I am not sure I believe this. If I did it over again, I would go for the A2824. I have a bunch of them in other watches and never had an issue. They are great watches. I haven't had an issue with the 4318 yet either, but there are many advantages to going with the A2824 over the 4318--including the ability to have it serviced with off the shelf parts.

I spoke with another TD that I have developed a friendship with who said there's nothing wrong with the 2824. He sells tons of them and says he never had an issue with a sale of a A2824 UPO--no complaints or returns. He also told me that he doesn't understand how Trevor can sell the watch for A2824 version for $188 because he's not making any money on it at that price (and may be losing) and the watch is a best seller so it's not necessary to price so low and move the watch.

Maybe Trevor is having issues with returns, but it seems like he would have a lot of other reasons to want to sell the 4318 version over the A2824. On the other hand, the 4318 is a good movement and you do save $50 anyway you cut it, so it's up to you which one you want to go with. :)

My instincts tell me to get the 2824 as well. And that's what I'll do. Take me chances.

I would say go for the eta copy 2824, if there is a problem with it, its alot easer to work on.

I'm told that many of the TD's are getting returns/exchanges due to unreliability of the A2834. As a result, some TD's like Trevor, are suggesting getting the A4813 UPO instead.

He offers the 5GPO in:

There are 3 kinds movement poption :
1st asian 4813 28800bph is $135USD
2nd asian ETA clone 2824 28800bph is $188USD
3rd swiss ETA 2824 28800bph is $268USD

Are you sure he said A2834? I never heard of that movement in a rep PO.

OP mispoke. Given the context of the question, he was referring to the A2824 Clone. :)

I got the 4813 from Trevor (voluntarily) but I regret it. I find that changing time/date is very rough, the time often jumps when you put the crown back in. The watch also came 5 minutes a day too fast, although thankfully I have been able to regulate it to a minute a day.

I actually didn't think you could regulate this much.
