I am guessing that you heard this from Trevor. I happen to like Trevor and have bought a fair share of watches from him, including a A4318 UPO, based on his advice to go with the 4318 over the 2824. I am not sure I believe this. If I did it over again, I would go for the A2824. I have a bunch of them in other watches and never had an issue. They are great watches. I haven't had an issue with the 4318 yet either, but there are many advantages to going with the A2824 over the 4318--including the ability to have it serviced with off the shelf parts.
I spoke with another TD that I have developed a friendship with who said there's nothing wrong with the 2824. He sells tons of them and says he never had an issue with a sale of a A2824 UPO--no complaints or returns. He also told me that he doesn't understand how Trevor can sell the watch for A2824 version for $188 because he's not making any money on it at that price (and may be losing) and the watch is a best seller so it's not necessary to price so low and move the watch.
Maybe Trevor is having issues with returns, but it seems like he would have a lot of other reasons to want to sell the 4318 version over the A2824. On the other hand, the 4318 is a good movement and you do save $50 anyway you cut it, so it's up to you which one you want to go with.
