How long should my pam rep last?

I have had asian hand wind clones of the unitas and for the most part they were very accurate.

But, I never held on to them to long and ended up selling them.

If I keep my Pam replica, how long on average do they last? Five years due to movement service need issues?

I would imagine by the time you need a movement service it would just make more sense to get a new rep instead considering the service costs about 100 bucks.

As soon as I have one fail I'll let you know. I've had one for over five years now and no telling how long it was on the shelf before I bought it, still running great.

+1 with the handwind. Automatic however (going off topic I know) are a different kettle of fish. My 104 (7750) lasted a couple of months before problems set in.

The handwind movements are far more solid. Stick with them.

Yep I agree and that's the main reason I have never purchased a watch with the 7750 movement, plus I don't know how to work on them

Anyway I've always preferred simpler and less complicated watches and that's probably a good thing when it comes to buying reps.

The watch is just like any other automatic or manual watch. Look after it and service it if needed and it should last as long as you do.

Was this watch worn on a daily basis or is it in rotation with other watches?

Mate it's a unitas clone it's unbreakable. These hand wind MVTs will last just about forever.
When/if it does break a new MVT is less than 50 bucks.

Does this apply for the non second base dials? I know the 005 replacement movement is about $40 as no engravings needed and has second hand but the base requires modification no?

+1 ...Hands down, just a solid movement.

...Does anyone know if there is a comprehensive list of watches that feature this movement and where that list might be found?

Well the vast majority will be in Pam reps, but Sinn, IWC, Breguet are a few other reps that have this movement. You really couldn't list them all. I guess you could go to a rep site and search for '6497' and see what you get. But the amount will probably be massive.

Replicas are different because: >>>>

Most rep owners own and wear a wide selection of watches, therefore each watch only gets a small fraction of the wear that the average "Joe lunchbucket" type guys daily wear Timex..
I seldom wear a watch more than maybe twice a month on average(once I stop wearing a NEW acquisition nonstop for several weeks of course!!), so I don't even think about servicing one...If it breaks, I just throw it into my junk box...
