Hi to all of you,
i have recently purchased a pam005 from HWF factory from a kind RWI member.
I really like it and i'm enjoing it a lot; but just for learning more i just want to ask to the pam experts how easy is telling that this is a fake watch and what are the spots to looking for in order to tell that.

Of course i'm referring to flaws that can be spotted with a relatively quick inspection. For example in my watch there is a little but noticeable brightness difference between dial and hands in the first moments after strong light exposure.

I like this watch so i don't need/want to fool anyone, I'm just curious

These are the pic from the sale: (yes, the strap is upside down for some unknown reason)

Thank you mate.
Yes, I had already read those threads but the comparison are often between reps from different factories.

Yeah, of course I’m enjoining it, and without any concern about flaws or similar.

I was just asking in this real world example what are the first things to look at for say: “yes, this is definitely a rep Pam”

Well I'm nor a super PAM expert but even I can tell the number cutouts are too fat compared to gen

The gen dial is engraved and then filled with lume?

Because HWF seems that the dial is flat with white paint markers and after some lume is appled on top of the paint

It's not, yours is correct i just brainfarted because I own a 111 with a sandwich dial

I meant the font thickness is thicker than gen on the HWF

no no, i dont' mean sandwich... From the gen dial pics it seems that the gen 005/000 dials are engraved a little (not completely cut like the 111) and then the engravings are filled with lume (at least for what i can see from pics)

It's called sausage dial. Dial is stamped then filled with lume.
The 3 in hwf has wrong shape. Like @Reaps said it is a bit thick.
The lume between the dial & hands can be a bit different even in gen.
You worry too much, pam005 is an entry level panerai anyway.

Here's my franken 005 (all gen except case) for you to compare your HWF dial to:

Wow thanks a lot!
I can confirm thet there is a little difference in how the indexes are made. When the light hits the gen dial you can see that the indexes are slighly recessed.
In the HWF the dial is compltely flat

Ppl will recognize a a watch as a Rolex, Omega, or Breitling but unless it’s a Chinatown grade rep, most won’t get close enough to know anything. Panerai, Blancpain, etc. most ppl wouldn’t even know what one is much less critique or know a model type. They’ll just say, “hey, I like your watch” and that is about it unless they are curious to even ask the brand.

Thats so not true. When I meet a random person with a watch I usually demand they take it off and give it to me. Then I proceed to pull out my lupe, but before so I unscrew the crown if possible to see the smoothness of the movement and I rotate the bezel and press all the pushers if it has some. Then I look through the lupe to see the close up detail of the hands and dial. Then I open it up and see the movement to make sure I am not talking to a fake watch wearing person as they cannot be trusted. Then I judge them in front of everyone and bash them for wearing a fake. I make sure I am loud and point so everyone in a 500ft radius knows it. Just have to protect the Gen Watch Community you know. I do Gods work.

@EuroTimes25 . . . thank you.
Sometimes I think we've already reached a level of insanity. I've seen fake Rolexes in the 1980s, that created more damage to the soul than watching The Omen on TV at midnight. Today we have such high level of replicas, that it'll take a make specialist to identify it, yet people freak out over what they perceive as a 0.5% variation on a certain marker.

This isn't healthy anymore . . .
