How do I get my dials absolutely lint free?

Hi guys,

Am working on a 16600 at the moment. I was removing some lint off the dial using Rodico when it seemed to leave smudges on the dial. I'm perplexed. A friend of mine suggested using Q-Tips dipped in warm water to get rid of the smudges but I have yet to be home to try it.

Rollie dials are so glossy, I feel gingerly around them. Pam dials are so much more forgiving. Hehehe....

Would like to hear the experts in this forum give me some suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

My understanding was that Rodico would not leave smudges but other products such as 'blu-tac' would.

Maybe Rodico does on Rolex dials - not goooooooodd

I always use a clean, small artist's paint brush. A lot of people also use a "puffer" or compressed air can. I agree on the Rodico. If you do use it for fingerprints, etc, only use a brand new bit on glossy dials. I'll generally follow up with a clean cotton cloth wrapped around a Q-tip. Also, use the CLEAN brush to brush out the inside of the case. It's amazing how often you put in an absolutely clean dial and when it's all together you notice a fresh piece of lint has shown up from somewhere.

EXACTLY! The tiny bits of lint or lume flakes and sometimes metal shavings from the work on the CGs show up on the glossy dial and its back to the drawing board.

A soft artist's brush sounds like a good way to 'sweep' lint and dust flakes outwards from the centre of the dial. Thanks mate!

Windex on a Qtip works wonders on glossy dials no discoloration and leaves them shiny clean

Be really carefull with rep dials, they often use low quality laquers that have a tendency to behave weirdly. Short story, never assume a tip that works on gen dials will work on a rep dial.

About rep Rolex dials in particular, as you realized rodicco reacts with the laquer they use, leaving smudges, therefore you mustn't use Rodicco on them, except maybe a very little piece on the tip of a wood stick, to remove a particular piece of dust (bascailly you don't really touch the dial in the process).
