I'm no expert, but I'd venture to guess that it has all the same problems most of 'em do: Cannon pin needs to be fixed, needs to be Superlumed and non-dagger swan neck movement?

I could be wrong, though.

I have the pretty much exact one from EL...

The difference, besides the dials are the hands and CG

if you want it to be semi-authentic looking get davidsens canon-pin fix and do that (with his superlumed hands too).

other than that you really cannot expect any more...

id personally suggest waiting for davidsens version. Once his comes out then you will be happier with any flaws (if if if any at all)

Just my suggestion....My 177h is modded w/ davidsen suplumed hands and canon fix. the CG is wrong and the crown isn't thick or perfect in any way, shape or form, but its a damn nice piece to look at.

Careful 'hambone'...this is exactly the same 177H rep Eddie Lee sells as Asian 6497-1 powered, for some $100 less. He has confirmed number of times that these movements are actually Asian ETA copies.

See below for more EL's pics of this particular watch:

Guys, all this reinforces the point made few weeks ago on this forum - we will have to keep our EYES WIDE OPEN in the future !

These so called "Swiss" movt's of dubious origin (read: Asian) are currently all over the place, and most of them are being offered by dealers at a rediculously high prices that belong to ranks of the real-Swiss mov't powered reps.
Not sure if dealers know this by the fact, but my belief is that they do, since the rep factories cost price would have been much lower for Asian mov'ts. :x

I used to disagree with Eddie Lee in the past on numerous matters, but one thing is for sure - he's being sincere and honest about the origin of these new Asian movt's at least...

just my 2 cents...

Geez....Thanks guys for the good information. I had no idea. I have the clearly mistaken concept that if it sells for more it must be better and that appears to be not the case here. I'm glad I asked.

Let me get this straight... These so called Swiss movements are actually Asian movements with "ETA" stamped and that is the only difference. Correct?

Yup, these are very new movements, have been on the market for a few weeks, if so.
My belief is the sooner we bring the awareness to the PAM rep-WIS masses (us) the better for all of us, and less unpleasant surprises in the future...

That said, these are new and have not been around enough for any of us to make any conclusive statements, the finish is definitelly up there with any Swiss PAM rep mov't, at least according to the photos.

However, the fact these are being sold as Swiss at the moment and for a premium $$, bugs me just a bit :(

I'll go and have a cold beer now...enough rant...

cheers,

To be angry about this is not only ok but (I think) important to us all. Those of us that are not as savvy as some (like you) must rely on info like you have provided. Please please do not stop telling us your "opinion" on things like this. I have learned so much from this site and like most things the more I learn the more ignorant I know I am. Thank you!

Thanks mate, I must admit I tend to over-dissect things sometimes, but I hope it's for the best :)
