Is that one of the Minerva movements, h_u? If so, that is kinda in-house, since Richemont/Vendome owns Minerva, too.

it is a Minerva, which is a remake of a 40's PW Minerva, added to it custom OP bridges, so it's more in-house than a modified ETA with OP bridges and it's as historic since the Minerva was used as milspec movement during the war. The RAD case with the gold beaded chapter ring is a vintage feature of the Proto-type move from 3646 to 6152 when the created soldered solid lugged cases prior to making the new 6152 - - so this model is more on track with the old Panerai school that most of their new offers.

of course i know what that Panerai houses.

its is just a - in my opinion - weired approach to use all kinds of different mvmnts for Panerais.

ETA - JLC - Minerva - and inhouse. all that at very limited numbers, and horrend prices.

i dont really know if like that....somewhat yes.....and no.

this is one of the most beautiful movements i have seen in a Panerai.

and 15 years ago i almost jumped on a Minerva watch....which did cost 3000 DM back then....and i didnt...as usual ....i hate me for it.

always loved MINERVA......

IMO all the standard production historic PAMs should come with this mov't, it's certainly more 'historic' in its meaning and value to the collector than a stock ETA 6497 on Soprod steroids.

The thing is, Vendome, now Richemont has tried to be hystoricaly closer and more correct to the original (then contemporary) 1993 OP historic design of 5218-20X/A models, as these originaly came with almost naked ETA6491 in them.

Bonatti has been talking about producing OPs own in-house historic hand-wind mov't for basic historic series for some time now, although that never eventuated. Minerva hand-wind mov't while not exactly in-house should fill that void quite nicely, and minimise the extremely high (and dangerous) price/value ratio usualy related to overpriced Pam historics of late.

...just my 2 cents worth.

This isn't the only gen-oriented Panerai discussion you'll find in this forum. IMO, the brand forums are to talk about those brands, be it rep or gen. That's my $.02, anyway...

but it is a bit confusing since one could think that the watch that has been posted is a rep....
look only the title...I thought that the chinese released a new movement for the Panerai reps and got disappointed while reading this post...

not a big probl but....

I didn't mean to say anything bad...only that I got excited for nothing...we Panerai freaks get excited pretty soon since we haven't seen a new movement in reps since NEVER...and we are eagerly expecting some...

Minerva is Felsa ebauche, not Cortbert, lots of Felsa PWs out there, back then there was more competition in the Swiss ebauche makers, not like today where ETA is the one and only game in town, near literally.

Horologie,

For some reason, my eyes are telling me that this gen watch might need a canon pin fix... not very flush IMHO.

L, our PAM reps only "need" canon pin fixes because the gens come that way. If the gens all came with recessed pins, we'd all be modding our reps to look that way!
