Hirsch Leonardo - A Couple of Questions

I just bought one of these:

To put on one of these:

My preliminary research indicates that the Leonardo is supposed to be configured out of the box to fit the Speedmaster Professional. However, this is a replica Speedmaster pro. and I have seen information that some folks have trouble getting the relatively sophisticated mounting system to fit the Speedy properly.

Furthermore, I know there is a $15 - $20 tool (the Instrumento) designed to help with this process. Research indicates that you don't have to use the Instrumento to get the job done.

Does anybody have any experience with this? If so, how hard is it without the Instrumento? I've got a box full of spring bars, spring bar tools, and whatnot.

Thanks.

Mark

Does the Leonardo only come in one MM width? That's the $64,000.00 question..

NFI. Let us know what you find out.

I had an integrated oem strap for my PO. It was an f'in PITA, but I installed it with just the standard burgeon spring bar tool.

Not sure I understand the question. The strap appears to be available in the most popular widths. The one I ordered is 20mm and I had to order it from the UK. The only thing available domestically was the 22mm.

Or are we talking about something else?

Did you see what I posted above, and have you tried installing one side, holding the other with the spring tool, and gently sliding it in place until it clicks?

I ordered the beast from the UK last night. Unfortunately, it hasn't been delivered yet. When it does, I will see what I can do, but I'm more interested in whether or not I'm going to have to mess with that high-tech plastic insert. As near as I can tell, I can use something, like the springbar tool, to push it out if I need to work with it. I just want to confirm that I can do that.

I am also aware that the insert takes 1.5 mm spring bars, and the stock Speedy springbars are bigger than 1.5. I don't know about the rep -- I haven't had this bracelet off yet.

At any rate, the advice sounds logical and I will see what I can do when I get the strap.

Really looking forward to it.

I hope you don't have to mess with the springbar hole in the integrated strap. Just to let you know, my PO and strap were gen, and the spring bar fit pretty tight in the hole of the strap. It looks like your strap end is the same general build and look as the one I had.

Right. I am just poking around trying to figure out whether I should order the Instrumento or not. I'm going to hold off and hope that I can get this thing mounted without doing any damage.

I assume that it looked pretty spectacular when you did get it installed?

That's what I'm hoping for.

Could anyone with a Hirsch Medici strap please measure the exact lengths? I need the measurements from the centre of both spring bar holes on the short strap, and centre of spring bar hole to tip on the long.

Thank you

Bryn

Length is quite sufficient for my 7.25" wrist. I discovered that the fit on the watch is better in the #2 position on the lug insert.

Thanks, but I need the exact measurements I asked for. It's for an 8 inch wrist.
