Ok so I've tried this on 3 movements and I think its the hands. I have some. FGD hands but they do not sit flush with the cp. I know all of the have a high cp.

So I know I can sand the back of the hand around the circular part that fits on the cp. But my my question is how much. My fear is I will shave it down too much and won't be able to use it.

Do I need to shave the hour wheel to bring the hour hand closer to the dial so the minute hand can be pushed down further?

Thanks gents

Here's one of the tutorials I used before tackling my H3 swap...

about 1/2 way down the page - basically you remove about .13 mm (or do like I did and sand/test/sand/test.....)

Mine (now sold) wasn't perfect, but I'd already messed up one set of hands so when I did the 2nd set I took less material off - such that the hands (correctly) no longer angled up, but there was a * teeny little* recess between the top of the cannon and the surface of the minute hand.

Better safe than sorry I figured.

Hope this helps.

I knew how to do it ;)

Just didn't know to what size to shave down to. Thanks!

There is no measurement it depends on dial and if it has a seconds at 9 .
It's not brain surgery just file a little at a time till flush take equal amounts off hour and minute hands.
Just be careful if it has second sub dial at 9 that it doesn't catch if it does you will have to bend the hands slightly it's not an exact science
Before you re assemble it all set watch to 20 to 9 and let it run for 5 mins if it clears seconds then you are good to go
