I love that black dialed one but unfortunately I'm really no expert for judging it in terms of its accuracy.

Come on experts, chime in. ;)

Well i am gonna try to be as smart as i can but :

- you can throw the strap to the garbage and buy a Gen one wich makes it a 700+ rep
- the tachyring is just horrible, look how "tachymeter" is engraved and filled, engravings are fat and not defined enough. The real one is a beautifull ceramic one.
- look at the horrible TAG logo on the dial... what the **** did happen ???!!!
- for the movement it's a 7750 plated but the real one is an in house movement so it's hard to make it look the same, i let anyone decide if you like it. Me don't :)
- the rotor is not good cause the rinted zone should be flat instead of textured.

Overall it's a Gen you can find in the 3000$ range sometimes just under so i think it does not worth it at that price and i don't find the plated 7750 really gorgeous. Just a fake looking movement with blue screws.

^^ what he said. Gen can be had at a good price. I picked up mine for 3K in 9/10 condition. I wouldn't pay more than $250 - $300 for 1887 reps. Not sure why they are so expensive.

It strikes me as weird that they undertook '1 year development' to pimp the movement, but didn't make the slightest effort to make it look more like the real thing.
As it stands the Carrera 1887 they try to replicate is a prototype version from 2010 that never went into production. It doesn't look anything like what can be found on the market. For one thing the replica it's far to big, the real one is 41mm. Other huge tells are the tachymetre on the outside of the bezel, the placement of the logo and the missing recess on the second register.
If someone is interested they can read more about it here:

There is a version 2 that were in production for a very limited time that is a bit closer, but it's still extremely easy to spot. Too bad since they did a very good job on both the Link Chronograph and the 43 mm Carrera 1887 with the grey dial (CAR2A11.BA0799).

Cheers
