*HELP* ZF Pam687 bezel not centered

Hey everyone,
I’m hoping someone can help me out. I just received a ZF Pam685. In the QC photos, the “officine panerai” bezel was a little off center. I disregarded this because I assumed it could be screwed on and off like my old 687 from SF. Unfortunately when I received the watch and tried to unscrew the bezel, it will not budge. Can anyone confirm if the bezel of ZF’s version of this watch screws on and off or if it needs to be popped off in order to be re-centered? If I am unable to do this, can I send it to someone that can fix this issue?
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, my 687 ZF is also not available. When he arrives, I will definitely try and write to you if this issue remains relevant...

Thanks! I meant to say PAM 685 in my title. The black dial not tropical. My tropical 687 was from the SF factory. That bezel was removable by screwing it off. My black dial 685 is from ZF which won’t move at all. I’m just trying to figure out if the screw on/off bezel was only for the SF models and not for ZF.

Well, I think the community in the factory. If ZF 687 is unscrewed, then 685 must be on the thread. Or vice versa, you do not have such an opportunity at 685, then I will not have it either. I’ll find out in a couple of weeks ...

Can you share some pics? Got a 687 too and never really looked at bezel centering..

Here you go. The bezel needs to be screwed over to the left about 1/4inch in order for it to be centered. Might be hard to see in the photos.

By the way, my 687 is similar in position of the frame to your 685. Frankly, I did not pay attention and did not see this as a problem. I thought the frame could be in a random place, as a part of a threaded connection. For me, this does not mean what I am wishing for you, but nevertheless, when it arrives, I will deal with its design and let you know.

Yeah, if you look at the markers, you can see on the gen, the 8 marker looks lined up with the I, the 9 seems to cun the N in half. While the 1 o'clock marker splits the A down the middle, while 2.oclock splits the E.

Have you tried to pop it off and place it on where you want it?

That is, if the spacing of the letters on the rep bezel will even line up.

Do you have any advice on how to pop it off without damaging the case? The SF version had a bezel that could be screwed on and off. The ZF seems like it’s either screwed on really tight or it’s snapped onto the case. That’s why I asked if anyone with a ZF version can unscrew their bezel

In my earlier post, I meant 10 o'clock and 11 o'clock markers but I think you got what I meant lol. I can't say with 100% certainty. I am not familiar with this model at all and I only have one ZF model and it's a submersible.

But on that you can pop it off relatively easily with a case opener.

If it's similar to my ZF model, just put some painters tape on the case at the bottom left side. From like 6 to 8. Put the blade under the lip (does the bezel have a lip?) and just pop it off.

You should be able to do it without damaging the case. If that's how it works, it should come off earlier. I mean if you're prying hard enough where you think you might damage it, it probably doesn't work that way.

But on the 685 I have no idea. Is the bezel in a fixed position on gen Panerai 685s? Id assume so.

But I'm sure there is a way to disassemble it.

This isn't a ZF but this is just the watch I'm wearing now. But let's see a close up shot at this angle

Here you go. The bezel seems flush with the case in some areas and in others there are gaps.

Have you tried to pluck it off yet?

I have not. I will have to get the proper tool. Still hoping someone on the forum with the same watch can confirm if the bezel can either be screwed on/off or it’s snapped in place.

Tried popping it off with a pocket knife. Won’t budge and I’m afraid of damaging the case (and my fingers)if I try harder. I’m wondering if I can send this out to someone for service and maybe they will have better luck. Any ideas?

Yeah it probably doesn't pop off then.

Oascom is in New Jersey. DM him. I’ve been using him here and there and he does good work, he has a nice set up with good equipment, and now he is on the list of trusted Vendors too. So you can find him there.

oascom

with the “at” function not working I had to edit to put the at in.

The reason why the bezel looks that way is because of the shape of the bezel, the angled corners overhang and so gives the appearance of not being flush with the areas along the straight edge looking like they are flush.

Not sure if you've already tried this but have you asked the TD about it? They might be able to ask the factory. ZF might have put some adhesive on the threads so compared to SF the bezel would be much harder to remove. I don't think the mid-case and bezel are one piece. That said, I'm not even sure you can change this condition or if this even needs correcting. Here's a gen PAM687 in comparison.

The alignment of the text to the markers is similar to your PAM685.
