Hello,

I was looking to seek some assistance from the "replica experts" on this forum. I'm usually on some of the other watch forums (such as TimeZone etc).

I'm looking to buy a genuine Breitling Seawolf Avenger and have been offered the following watch. It comes WITHOUT boxes and papers which raised some red flags. The serial# appears to be there (and is different from the ones found on some of the replicas).

I know there are some fantastic, high quality replicas out there and have researched quite a few threads on this website that show pictures. The watch I'm considering seems to have the features of the real deal (3000M on the back instead of 300M, 17370 Model #instead of the incorrect one, font on front of dial looks correct)...but I also know the replicas can be modified (with dials) with some of the OEM Breitling pieces.

I was wondering if I could get your thoughts on the following watch. From the pictures, it looks like a genuine piece.....but I just want to make sure I'm not paying "genuine money" for a high end replica.

Thanks very much for your time and assistance.

Gen.

You can tell when reps are modified with a gen dial. That one looks fine.

Not to mention to get a gen Seawolf Ti case back would be a huge feat in itself. lol

As long as the condition of the movmt is good and if the watch is functioning properly, you should be fine. Also that he sends the watch pictured and not a rep.

I assume you are getting a very good deal to be purchasing from a risky seller along with no documentation.

Thanks very much for the replies.

The asking price is $1,200 U.S, which I feel is a tad too high considering it has no boxes/papers and was made in 2003 (according to the date code on the bracelet) so it could need a movement service in the next year or so.

Also, there are lots of scratches on the bracelet links from daily wear (you can't see them on the photos I posted, but in some other pictures he sent, they are obvious).

What do you think a fair price would be for a watch like this considering the condition and lack of papers.

Thanks for your assistance....I appreciate it.

I think it's fake. It can be just the picture, but in the picture, the bezel isn't sharp enough, AR is nonexistant, and the second hand apears to be short. (Dial looks pretty gen though)

But, if it were real, it should go for ~800

It's Ti so as long as he did not use the watch as a doorstop, you should be able to bring it to a nice finish with some work.

A service trip to BUSA is at least going to cost you $4xx. Plus at least 8 weeks turn around time.

This is the last year for the Seawolfs so finding new ones are only going to get more limited in the near future.

For refrence, I could have gotten a brand new in the box Seawolf for about $1800 (with ProI bracelet, ProII costs a bit more) Depends on AD's inventory, dial color and if they want to move a discontinued model.

So what you are willing to pay is up to you.

The seconds hand is the correct length. The AR, well pictures are always hard to tell but the rep has crappy purple/blue ar.

2nd picture shows the bezel to be sharp enough, the first picture does look poor.

It has a gen dial, gen case back, gen bracelet. Unless he modified a $2 21j movmt and put a eta datewheel on it, that would be too much time and $ invested:)

The gen parts cost and time involved would be way too much effort for around $1000 used watch to sell.

I am not saying the the OP SHOULD get this watch, just that it's gen. He could maybe ask for a movmt shot as well to see what's going on inside.

Just wanted to say that opening the watch will break the seal and unless the seller has the right tools will more then likely damage the case back. He couls ask the seller to take it to a watchmaker whould has the tools to open it and reseal it (pressure test).
