I have a rep Pam388 that I enjoyed for years. The watch has now crapped out in terms of the movement and I wanted to replace it. Looks like all the TDs do not have stock or the factories are just not producing this watch any more.

being that I have a good case and watch face is there away to swap out the movement so I can salvage the watch? Any recommendations where I can get the right movement and who can do the replacement (in the IS ideally)

any help is welcome please.

Thanks!

Hello.

Which factory made your watch? What movement do they use?
If these are earlier V6Fs using the A7750, you can replace them with an Asian or Swiss movt. Purchased from ebay for example.
If it uses ST2555 then it is a direct replacement with anyone bought on ebay or ali.
If it is a P.9000 VSF clone, then it is better to think with your watchmaker how to fix it, if possible, because such a clone you can now only buy from someone privately. They are not available for sale anyway.

Replacing the P.9000 with a 7750 is not an easy task; a number of improvements and details will be required.
But since this model has a transparent caseback, you need to think about how you will feel about the appearance of your new movement, and either accept the inappropriateness, or look for a m2m donor with a decorative plate if it fits inside.

In any case, with the replacement P9000 simply will not happen, so I wish you the best of luck!

Hi. Thank you. I am not sure which movement it is. Does this pic help identify it?

This movement is a KW-V6Fac based in A7750 decorated like a P.9000 with Inverted layout.
This movement fitted the second version of PAM 388 with decorated movement released by KW-V6Fac on Sept 2013. The first version was released on July 2013 and fitted with a Seagull also decorated like a P.900 with inverted layout.
The rotor bearing looks a bit weird, but I think it is a problem of lighting conditions and focus

A good watchmaker should be able to make a correct repair, since it is just an A7750 with some decoration plates

Sorry, raym50 or some reason, I missed the photo of the movement, but i can't not agree with ALE7575 s comprehensive answer.

Definitely, the A7750 is repairable, and even if there is no point in restoring it, it can be replaced with an Asian or Swiss one bought somewhere.

Regarding the rotor mount: it seems that the decorative plate and screws are missing. If you haven't removed them, check to see if they are inside, loosely dangling. They could get inside the mechanism and jam. This is where it will be the rudimentary solution to your problem, if no damage is done because of it.

This is good point KOT1917

Yes, looking at the pic carefully, it seems that it is not a focus or lighting problem, but that the decorative plate of the bearing could be missing, and then it would be within the movement causing it to stop.

Good catch !!

You guys are the best! The movement is likely far beyond repair. Makes wierd noises and doesn’t wind properly. But it sounds like a can purchase a 7750 movement and swap it out quite easily? I am actually not concerned with the see thru back and if it looks authentic from behind. I just like the watch face on and want it to keep good time. Any recommendations for someone in the US that can take this on? I would even ship international if necessary.
