Hello, RWI!

I recently ventured back into the vintage Rolex era. Back story of this is I purchased this Big Dazza modded 6538 on RG. Unfortunately, I did not notice that the member I purchased it from is a banned member here on RWI for an unknown reason to me.

He states that he purchased it here on RWI years ago. I can’t go back that far to research, sadly. Anyway, I received it and it was sold to me as an ETA clone but I knew it was a 21j as soon as I attempted to set the time. On top of that, the crown does not screw in well. It seems like it only grabs a thread or two. Any hard shock to it will release it from the tube.

With that being said, it makes me question the entire watch. I’m searched day and night to get info but I’m coming up a little short and this is where the great members of RWI come in play.

Based on the pictures, can anyone shed more light on the case maker, dial, crown, etc? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thats a Tonny dial. Actually it looks exactly like one I sold to @j_____ a few months back.

Thanks! Helps me put some perspective on what I purchased. I’m doing research as we speak. If I can be completely honest, the main reason of buying it was for the bracelet. The watch itself just happened to be a bonus but after I opened the box, it was like love at first sight. Aside from the crown issue, it’s a very well built piece.

Who’s the banned member? @tripdog should be able to help...if he’s not too grumpy today.

I PM’d a mod with the member name. I don’t want to cross any lines here, but here is the link where I purchased it from - http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.p...olex-Big-Crown-6538-4-Line-Gen-Rivet-Bracelet

The bracelet is a Vietnam one and NOT a Yuki. I’ve had both in the past and the Vietnam one has a slight slit on the end link.

I’m not sure about the crown but in the thread, someone suggests it’s a stock Sillix. There are hardly any threads on the tube so I’m trying to research to see which tube fits. But this also depends on the case maker, which crown, etc..

It’s no big deal but that would be the call of @DreadPirateRobert. It would be good for the members to know the username to watch out for him in other forums. I’m glad you posted the link to RG. It looks like he’s still very active on that forum. It s a nice looking Watch to my untrained eye.

Yeah, I figured the link would be okay. I PM’d DPR but awaiting his response.

I love the RWI community and I also respect the rules and try not to cross lines. Everyone here has been more than helpful on several occasions. In the end, I’m just trying to figure out the origin of this watch. Haha..

BTW, can anyone tell what tube size this Sillix case uses? I may have a spare in my box and that will remedy the crown and tube issue I’ve been having.

Thanks for that @Tomyumgai, I did get the name. Go ahead and publish the Seller's name, others might also have info on him. I'll be doing some digging tomorrow morning to see what I can find.

The seller of this Item has a watch for sale now on RG with what he claims is a Swiss movement. He has no picture. You guys might want to alert the RG staff.

His member name is ‘vintagewatchstuff’.

Again, I’m just searching for info on the watch itself. He seems to not know much about it and states he bought the watch based on what it was sold to him as. But because of that, I don’t have any information other than it’s a BD build with a rivet bracelet.

LOL at gen crown and bracelet. Looks like a Silix crown, probably a Silix case with the original movement - a DG.

Yeah, I’m thinking the same. First clue was the price was way too cheap. A gen crown on its own would exceed the entire watch and original asking price. @tripdog, would you happen to know the size/pitch if the Silix tube? My searches are coming up empty.. everyone seems to update to Athaya crown + tube.

On a side note, not to sound as if I’m defending his name, but there’s a possibility that HE was misinformed. Without the original sales thread on here where he claims he bought it, there’s no way to tell. If HE was misinformed, that may mean the RWI member that he purchased it from may still be active here.

I am enjoying it, this was the first rep that I have worn. I wore it to see if anyone in public would notice what it was ( a highly collectible 6538 that is). No one has noticed at all. I am approx 1 week out from arrival of a VintageWatchSociety superfranken 6538. I stepped it up to a superfranken because I really like the look and size of the 6538. Thank you for selling it to me :) When the super arrives I will let this one go to the next happy owner.
