my question ... what is meant by sausage dial when it comes to panerai models. i finally figured out "sandwich"dial. stumbled on to the stick of glossary terms for panerai on timezone.com. but what is meant by sausage dial. am i off base here?

i had the pleasure of seeing several pams and breitling reps (upclose and personal) recently, so for my 2nd foray to rep collecting ... i want to focus on panerai and breitling.

i have been collecting reps since dec 2007 and was mainly interested in rolex (i know, i know -- enough said), mont blanc timewalker (gmt) to compliment my gen mont blanc pens, pp and vc. now i know better and can be more selective. :)

"Sausage" dials are the opposite of sandwich dials. They have engraved/lume filled indices on the gen watches. On our rep dials, they are the 1-piece dials that simply have the lume applied to the surface of the dials like this:

These dials were present on the A-G series Historic PAMs, and all the series of the 005 and 000.

Hope this helps.

It refers to a dial on which the hour markers and numbers are actually raised/painted lume, rather than cut-outs with lume below.

Hooligan beat me to it, but I'm posting this anyway so there!! :p
