Hello guys! Noobie here and very pleased to join this forum. After reading for so many hours to get valuable insights and going in detail through Ale’s reviews, I decided that I really want a ceramic PAM for my collection. Having already a gen PAM111 I already ordered a PAM382 and now I think that a ceramic one will be a good addition. First, I have decided for a PAM607 but it is almost impossible to find it in the market… I have already contacted some TDs but with negative respond in terms of availability. Waiting for some pending replies also I decided to start looking for the PAM508 instead asking again the TDs but I have the feeling (from what I read so far) it is also difficult to find them in the market. So I really need your advice here! Are both PAM607 & PAM508 so difficult to find them currently in the market I should start looking for alternatives? Is there any TD you may have in mind that can really help here? I can’t go to the M2M sales threads because I am a noobie here so I don’t have any other option. Sorry for the long post but I really need some advice here so as not to waste my time (and TDs as well). Thank you!

Hi and welcome. Keep asking as many TD’s as you can. One of them might be able to find a watch that the other can not. Also, become a Supporter and then post in the Want To Buy section the watches you are after and include some photos. Many discontinued and hard to find watches are acquired this way through member to member sales. Good luck and happy hunting!

Indeed, keep asking, you could get lucky, I did on an AP a while back..
Just to add, I've also asked around for the 508 too. there doesn't appear to be any left over stock.
If you don't mind second hand, then keep a look out on the M2M.

Hi there! Thanks for the tips! To be honest I hadn’t thought about this Supporters option. Are both PAM607/PAM508 considered discontinued? Then it will be a long hunting I guess…:D

Yeap, I will keep asking until I feel sure that the chances are minimal to find them. I just wanted to buy them new. Not that I have problem with a very well maintained and perfect condition second hand, it is just second option… Still it might also be difficult for second hand if they are discontinued… I mean, if I had such a watch, I wouldn’t give it knowing that it will get rare and hard to find. Anyway, as we said… hunting is on! Thanks for the advice!

As far as I know yes. I actually just got rid of my 508 on M2M about two weeks ago.

Pottery does not lose its appearance over the years. A watch from several years ago almost always looks new when handled appropriately. Also, more often they are based on 7750, and repairing a rep is always a quest, but with this movt, it is always a little easier than with a clone. 508 are sometimes m2m, and 607 I hardly saw, like most destros. As for the alternatives, there are none. 508 and 607 are 2 single ceramic subs.

Try and find them for sure. I found my 508 and I'm glad. Sure it is exceptional submersible. I think 382, 569, 187, 508 are a must.

Unfortunately both watches you are chasing are long discontinued and highly unlikely to be available through a TD. They are also highly sought after and don't come up often in M2M. When they do, they have a way of finding their way from one long standing member to another. Not meaning to be discouraging but that's the reality. Unless you are very specific about those exact ceramic submersibles (well, one really since the 607 is essentially a destro 508) and willing to hold out for who knows how long, you will have a much better chance of actually acquiring a submersible pam if you look at what is currently available. The 984 is superb rep for example and a TD should be able to get you one. Of course, Iif you really want to know the definition of chasing a unicorn, try to find a H Factory 87 :D

BTW, be very cautious of anyone messaging you in private and telling you they have one. Ask them to post a reserved sale for you (once you are a Supporter as suggested above), wait till it is approved by a moderator before handing over any money and generally avoid anyone who has very few posts and yet can source tightly held unicorns

I'll see your PAM087 and raise you a PAM225. :)

Captaindim don't let them discourage you! :D

A lot of these watches can be found if you are consistent in being present on the forum and m2m section. What helps for sure is the "supporter" or even "patron" status since many old members/supporter/patrons that treasure this kind of old school/sold out watches prefer to deal between with them..

Disclaimer : the photo is for reference only, none of the displayed watches are for sale

I really appreciate your advices. I totally agree a well-maintained watch can easily look like a brand new even after some years. For 607 & 508 I realize patience and keep hunting should be the secrets behind when I manage to find any. I agree 187 is a beautiful piece! Could you be kind to suggest a couple of hi end reps I should keep in mind? This would help me a lot!

Thanks a lot for the insights! For PAM087 H Factory I was aware of being a very impressive watch (thanks to Ale’s review) but to be honest I was totally unaware of the PAM984! As I said… noobie here…. Man, this PAM984 is amazing! Can you suggest a couple of best reps I should have I mind?

:DNo they don't! Actually, the guys are very helpful presenting how the situation is so I get an understanding of what to expect and how to deal with this situation.
Yes, this is an action that definitely help much more as I was not aware of this “internal trade preference” :D
Definitely I would be the happiest man around even if I had the 1/10 of this collection!

But still guys, just a question here… What about PAM243? I thought so far that this should be like the must have “starting point” when it comes to Subersibles… Am I wrong? Also, I consider PAM285 a must have as well (even if it is like a different/alternative approach from PAM187 mentioned previously).

243, 064, 087, 024, 025, 187, 225, 202, 285, 364, 382, 508, 569, 571, 607, 616 these are all excellent sub, also everything (except for 616) is not produced now. However, you can't go wrong with any of them. Just get at least one, and then you will understand what you are missing, what you like and what not. In addition, on the website of any eTD you can see the subscriptions from VSF currently available. And then it's a matter of taste. Many do not like cyclops, I am not attracted to chronographs, my friend loves any sub if he has numbers on the dial and not sticks, and another thinks that only steel is an acceptable material. Get started. And then further, an opinion will be formed, and an experience will appear that will allow you to make the next purchase.
