Hey guys!

A buddy of mine recently noticed the crown guard on his 1392 was a bit loose and came to see that a screw had gone missing. He bought a set off Panatime on Amazon, but they ended up not fitting.

Here’s a picture to indicate which screw:

Anyone know where I can help him source one?

Thanks!

Was the Panatime screw too big or too small? They have more than one different size based on 1950 cases or Bettarini cases — this new cases are different, but you may luck out and the other size may work. Worst case scenario is to take out the remaining screw, measure it as accurately as possible and source that size without looking for a “Panerai” specific screw.

Hmm. Checking the Panatime website right now -- I only see one option for crown guard screws. Perhaps I'm missing something...

How did you make out? I have the same problem but I have the other one so I ordered a few generic screws of the same size for now. We’ll see how that goes. In the mean time, I have a few people working on trying to match it based on the specs for that model. But any information would be nice.

I'm not sure if he's gotten it in yet. Will give you an update as soon as I find out. Hopefully one of us can find a solution her and help each other out!

Absolutely. I’ve checked out a few options and thank god the other screw is still there. That makes things so much easier. I measured and ordered a few options. As soon as I get something in (especially if it works) I’ll let you know.

I heard back from one of the people I asked and I was directed to what I believe is exactly what was linked above. This is the actual store who directed me here based on the details of the screws. I described the screws I wanted (and didn't mention a panerai reference because where its a rep, I didn't know if it would be accurate) and they directed me to this link, which is exactly what it's for. A 127 fiddy. Encouraging.

As I mentioned, I ordered a screw kit off Amazon (probably like you mentioned trying to do) and I also ordered the screws specifically for the fiddy off ebay.

I'm waiting for the two crown guard screws from the ebay seller ($50 for two screws) and the kit from Amazon shows up ($11 for 160 screws of various sizes).

I test out what should be the appropriate sized screw based on my measurements and it fits! It screws in to the watch case perfectly. Awesome. I try to slip it through the crown guard and the head is too big. It doesn't fit. Wtf. I'm positive this was done intentionally.

I file down the head of the screw so it's big enough (small enough) to fit through the hole and voilà. We're back in business, baby.

I probably should have waited until I got the correct screw especially because I'm probably not even going to wear it between now and when the other screw is coming, but I suffer from the need for constant instant gratification. Besides, it screws in and out fine and at will. When the other screw gets here, perhaps I'll replace it.

Question to anyone who cares to answer: Should I loctite on the screw? Or is there any reason I should not use loctite?
