This guy doesnt speak the best english so I am thinking he is probably a better source for local in-person visits. Long story short, I would check Yelp reviews in your area, focusing on places with high reviews but dont look overtly fancy.
No one I know really wears watches, so I had to start from ground zero. I first called around if anyone was willing to work on rep watches. I got no were with that. I then took it in to some fancy watch places and was quoted $300 from one place and $200 from another place. Considering I paid like $350 for mine, $100 was my price point otherwise I would just end up getting a new watch. A month or so went by and then I made another effort walking in to another couple places on my daily drive to/from work. One guy wanted $175 (and would not budge) and another really old guy wanted $200 but told me "it might be more this looks like a nice watch". I wasnt so confident with that. He probably just changes batteries these days. I ended up posting here on the forum for help and someone mentioned I should also check Yelp reviews. I narrowed my search down to about 5 places. I was in downtown LA one night and noticed a guy with an Omega and struck up a conversation and asked him if he ever had it serviced. He told me about a little place he recommends to everyone just east of LA a few miles and sure enough it was one of my 5 picks. I went there the next day, price was right and he fixed my watch. As mentioned before, not the best english and not a big conversationalist (based on his yelp reviews) but this PAM111 really got him talking.
Good luck!
