hello.
im in need of some assistance from Submariner experts.
i have this Sub(picture below) bought as a top version from Trusty(not a TD here, i know) two years ago.

some 6-8 months ago, i started facing issues. the problem is the rotating bezel rotates both ways, clockwise and anti clockwise and the insert fell off somewhere.

i tried to locate sellers on ebay with full set to be taken to a local watch smith here in UAE so that this can be fixed.

can anyone help me with this??

Im located in the UAE. i tried taking the watch to local watch smiths but had to return with negative responses from them.

Sending the watch to the US is not just expensive but highly risky!

please help me how can i fix this? is here something i can do at home, apart from using super glue!

im looking to go gen with a dJ 36 but i dont intend to sell this watch. this one has been with me the longest and ive taken this one everywhere from pool to the sea(not too deep), bath, and wake boarding, etc. NO ISSUES!! and most importantly, this is perfect for my skinny wrists!
so i will keep this one.

Hi, on vintage 4 digits we do this all the time: cover both lower lugs with protective tesa-film to not scratch. Insert a stanley knife/ caseback opening knife carefully between 4 and 5 o´clock using the lug as support and push it in/up - than work around in direction to 6, 7, 8 or more - the bezel assembly should come loose. Than You can fix all. Take pics to see what goes where. Use some epoxy instead of glue if needed.
Once you have it back on push each corner against a wooden table top until You hear a click.

You need a new bezel insert - WSO on Ebay, the click spring which stops the bi-directional rotation, that depends on the construction - probably not gen like, it'll undoubtedly a small pin on a spring countersunk into the case - it may be worn, have come unseated - depends on how often you play with the bezel...

so you suggest buy a set of insert, bezel and the click spring, right? should i look for a seller named WSO you recommend?

how do i see what construction it is? should i open and post pictures?

Before ordering anything you should remove the whole bezel assembly as per the description a little higher on the thread, in order to see the bezel construction - if your lucky, you'll just need to reseat the little pin head click spring, and ut in a new insert - but don't order anything till you get that bezel off - not many are gen construction - then put up some pics to confirm it.

there is little something that i tried, on the case is a tiny little something. and the bezel has teeth on the inside. i figured this is obviously simple to make it unidirectional and this was the issue. so well i did place it back and it now moves in one direction. but!! but the issue is it doesnt make a good sound!!! it doesnt click! its smooth. no tick tick... its drrr... drr... if you understand what i mean. that hasnt solved my issue, infact raised another!

Solutions??

thanks man! i've gone through each of these, TC's case is not the same as mine. like tripdog said, its different construction than the gen. and its not even same as the TC's.

and in the other thread, it does seem same like mine. i havent found my solution in it.

Hi, it must be a simple solution, keep looking:
some pics from TC https://forum.replica-watch.info/vb...iner-Housing-Gen-3135-amp-Gen-Parts-(Part-II). some tips regarding a wire like Yours https://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/82575-Bezel-fix-on-red-sub-1680 and generic parts from wso: http://stores.ebay.com/WHOLESALEOUTLET990/SUBMARINER-INSERTS-BEZEL-/_i?_fsub=3
Not sure if another tiny part to make it click is missing or has broken on Yours;

i found one more part from this. its a spring. which was under that little steel little tiny that will hook into bezel teeth to make it click.

will try cleaning the whole set today and see how that fairs.

Not the same construction.

The spring loaded stops it from turning both directions, makes the click - the underside of the bezel - the teeth look dirty - clean them with a small brush - clean the whole assembly and try again.

alright so i cleaned it up, the teeth on the inside, the spring in the hole that i found and another steel pin which holds the teeth on the inside to move clockwise.

so now after cleaning and resetting, the bezel doesnt move in clockwise direction, but also doesnt make that click sound that i expect it to make. the smooth drr...drr...drrr... not the usual trr...trr.. if you know what i mean.

guys what can be the solution?

is it the spring not strong enough? the steel pin not sharp enough? or the bezel inside teeth not sharp enough?
and what should i do with the insert?

"the smooth drr...drr...drrr... not the usual trr...trr.. if you know what i mean." Not really no....

The spring loaded nipple, as you've worked out, stops it from being bi-directional, and the teeth/steps on the inside of the bezel ring are what the spring loaded nipple 'bite' into - and which make the clicking sound.
First check that the bezel ring is seated correctly - it should be almost touching the case - virtually no gap between base of bezel and top of case.
The nipple head could be worn, the teeth on the bezel ring could be worn (unlikely) or the spring could be fatigued/misshapen - squashed - you could try pulling on the spring very very gently to make it about half a millimetre longer, this might sort it out. If not there's probably nothing you can do, it's a Chinese watch built to a budget.....
As for the insert just buy a generic replacement - you have a 'sapphire' model sub (not ceramic) so that is what you need to look for - try Whole Sale Outlet on Ebay - quality is OK, instructions on how to fit are supplied and should be followed to the letter.

got the insert from there.

doesnt fit! i dont know if im doing it right or not. but i know if it sits perfect it needs to click and sit in there forever. but this is the same issue i faced witht he stock insert!

is there anyway i can change the case?
to be honest, i have a sales thread ready and i came back here to get an opinion.

this is stated Swiss ETA 2836 -2 is there anyway, i can buy a case off somewhere and replace it?
wholesaleoutlet? Yuki? TC? will it fit the engine appropriately?

would you require any pictures to comment?

So you bought an insert from WSO on Ebay and it doesn't fit - correct?

These inserts can be a little difficult to get in. The best way is to have the bezel ring removed from the case, starting with the pearl are of the insert push it into place in the ring, working your way around the bezel ring little by little. The last part is the hardest - you won't be able to do it with your fingers - you need to push the insert into place by pressing it down on a hard surface - turn the bezel ring over, line up the part of the insert which is still protruding with the table top and press down hard using a rolling motion - you'll hear a definite snap sound as it clicks into place.
Sometimes you need to sand off a fraction of a millimeter of the insert to get it to snap in - if it really really won't go in, using fine grade sand paper, gently and carefully sand down the outer edge of the insert - testing for fit regularly so that you don't remove too much.

Replacing the case is possible, but not really viable - you may as well buy a new watch - if it's a gen ETA inside this one you can either transfer the movement or sell it to recover some costs.
