Hi guys,
Just signed up to the forum but have dropping by in the the past to read forums of interest. Seems like a great source of information and I'm hoping somebody can help me out.
My dream watch is the vintage Tudor Prince Oysterdate Ranger (pic below):
I really like the idea of buying a genuine tudor prince oysterdate (model no. 74000) and just replacing the dial and hands with replica parts. For me this has all the benefits of the genuine version, but added benefits of potentially getting a more modern case and more modern movement in the ETA 2824. Plus it saves me about 5 grand...
I've read all over the internet that Tudor rangers are possibly the most counterfeited watch on the vintage market, particularly because the ranger and the prince oysterdate shared the same reference numbers, and so replica dials are put into genuine oysterdate cases and sold as rangers all the time.
So there must be a ton of replica dials somewhere, but I for the life of me can't find one.
Options I have considered:
- Raffles dials - The only ranger dial they have listed is a 29mm which I think will not fit the 34mm oysterdate case (needs a 27mm dial). I also prefer the more modern Tudor shield and font and i'm not a huge fan of the aged lume
- Yuki - This one is basically perfect, I thought the search was over but Yuki say the dials are no longer in stock and they have no plans to restock in future.
So does anyone know anywhere else I can buy a replica ranger dial in the correct size and preferably with the correct dial feet for ETA 2824?
Or does anyone have any part matching that description that they would be prepared to sell?
Or last resort, if there really are no options here, does anyone know if I can get a dial commissioned for this watch?
Would really appreciate any help anyone can offer as this is driving me crazy!
best wishes,
Joe
