Guys I need your help. First of all, I am new to purchasing replicas so please excuse me if I dont know the rep terms, etc.

I want to purchase my first Panerai and I need your help on what model to choose. I just want a model that is the most accurate and closest to the genuine one.

Thanks for any info.

While I agree that DSN's "Ultimate" Fiddy is, perhaps, the most accurate rep out there, I would hesitate to suggest that as your first Panerai.

I think perhaps DSN's 183 E would be a better choice? The "Ultimate" 092 is another good option.

Are you looking for an auto or manual movement, stagfan? Are you a fan of REALLY big watches (i.e. 47-50mm)?

Also, what is your price range? If you're not sure that you'll even like owning a Panerai, I would not want to suggest you drop $400 on a watch that you might not love...

I'll cut and paste my repsonse from mickeypro's poll:

"I voted for the 111. The 127/217 is jumping in with both feet for your first PAM. There's nothing wrong with the 177, but the 111 is a bit more quintessential Panerai, IMO. The 177 or a SS cased base dial model like the 112 would be a good "2nd" PAM. Then bring on the 47mm watches."

My vote is davidsen's PAM232 special edition radiomir with tobacco brown dial.

Simple and classy looks gen.

Although the gen caseback comes with production number engraved eg. XXX/138 which the rep don't. I think this is ok as firstly noboby usually pay attention to the caseback and next is that there is "shadow" caseback (aka gen caseback with no production or serial number and cost more than the one the comes with it)

Another close one will be Davidsen PAM112 and request for E Series movement.

Thanks for your replies. I fell in love with the watches when I saw the pictures posted here. Big watches is not an issue for me. I just want my first purchase to be the most accurate rep as possible so as not to waste money.

I would suggest a Davidsen 111E (with the sausage dial) or 177H (with the sandwich dial). If you decide you like Pams you will want both of these eventually. If, after your purchase you find that you don't like the Pam style either would be easy to sell on the forum.

While these watches might seem quite similar in the photos. On the wrist they are very different.

The dial that DSN shows on his 111E has numbers/indices that are too thick, IMO.

Has it come to this? Instead of who has the best sub....its who has the best PAM?

IMHO, I just can't live with how crappy the '12' looks on the sandwich dial + L SWISS MADE L. Go with a sausage dial...
You want accurate then stay as simple as possible...

Remember these are reps and they're all going to have flaws of some sort.
Figure out what case you want...Ti, PVD, SS
What dial...base? white? running seconds subdial? logo? 44mm? 47mm? Crown guard, no crown guard? blah blah blah?

There is so much to think about that you'll go crazy. Go for what appeals to your aesthetic senses...All the members
are going to have their favorites.

Go with what you think will be best on your wrist.

I'd suggest the 111h. It's a real classic. You might post a WTB note here on the forum for your first rep.

You might want to narrow your terms of reference a little.

Do you want a Luminor, a Radiomir, a Submersible or a Vintage?

Spend a little time looking at the various offerings available from Davidsen, Andrew, Joshua and the other fine dealers... then pick the watch that you like best.

They all have flaws (some more than others)... but whichever you choose, it is most unlikely that you will ever be challenged.

which panerai?

Thank you so much guys for all the information you sent. Based on what I have read in this forum, these are the most accurate PAMs today:

1. 111 E
2. 111 H
3. 127 "fiddy"
Correct me if Im wrong. But I am leaning on purchasing any of those models. I hope you can help me decide as well.

111H is not very accurate from any dealers... even with modding, it has flaws that can't be fixed. but then again 111H is the model I do recommend to first time buyers... it's simple looking and looks very nice with sandwich dial (right size too). It's like... a gateway to Panerai haha

You're right about 111E (or F) and Fiddy being accurate, but you need to buy them from the right dealer(s). If you don't mind the size, Fiddy is probably the most accurate Historical Panerai model out there... talk to Davidsen regarding this model.

As to 111H or 111E (or F), I think purchasing them from other dealers (such as TWP, Ruby, Puretime, Joshua, Andrew, etc.) and getting it modified by Vaccum or FF (not to forget, TWP now offers modding services) will get you more accurate result.

Hi there,

when you say BEST i would assume that you are ready to let the cash flow....

Go for a 127 by Vaccum.

Surprised? Well, it comes COMPLETE. No further mods needed.

Visually on the front, its all the same. Perfect.

As for the back you can choose from different movts if you don't care about it being hidden.
You want the best closest to GEN, he can do it for you. You want some China movt that not one of us has seen before, he can provide for you as well!! LOL!! :)

Cheers!!
