Help needed - 177er Case from ebay. Gen or HWF?

A friend of mine has bought a case on ebay that was sold as "Gen 177". He showed me the pictures and at least for me it looks more like a HWF-Case (look at the CG-Pin). But I am not an expert on cases. But I am sure, some of you guys have the knowledge to give a better expertise. Thanks in advance!

I can't say 100% on the case, but the CB and CG are not gen. The quality of engraving are poor. Just look at the space between O & 611/700 and the edges of the engraved box. Also as noted the CG pin has no definition and the crown area & lever are the wrong shape.

(1) based on the quality of the engraving, it's not GEN, and (2) based on logic, I'd say somebody who owns a GEN Panerai would have to give me a heck of a story on why he would sell the case of his watch on eBay.
